At one time a few years ago, I knew a gal from Australia (Adelaide, South Australia).
I loved her accent. Very cool.
I also got a lesson in the differences in the Australian dialect (or at least her local dialect), and ours up here. There are a few terms that I picked up. Once one knows the 'meanings', it all makes sense, really.
I also learned what Vegemite was. Like it, too. Was able to eat it with my toast - although I discovered that I was spreading it on too thick. *grin*
