lol - yes GermanXJW, I think Danny pinged your fathers mental condition. Stockholm syndrom was my first thought on reading your/his story.
cheers, unc .
GXJW, I'm so sorry to hear about this. To have hopes that a close relative will be able to see through the lie, only to have them bury themselves higher and deeper in it, has to be extremely disappointing.
Some parents can be a 'royal pain in the ass'.
What made me laugh about your father was offering to take your children for you when the Great Tribulation begins!
At least you're not going to have to worry about having to do that.
When we're young, and I mean very young, we think our parents, or hope our parents, are always right. It comes as quite a shock one day to realise how truly stupid they can be.
Gill - Of the trying VERY HARD not to be a stupid parent, class!!
I have to wonder how he justifes his inactivity while waiting for Jehovah to take care of things.
Wasn't he supposed to remain faithful which meant (to the JWs ) meetings and service?
He went to a different nearby congregation and learnt that recently the elder who attacked the pioneer got DF for adultery and the famous, influential elder got a stroke and cannot speak anymore.
Oh joy, Jehovah works in mysterious ways!
I think Dr Jekyl called it. I like people like your father. They do everything with a lot of passion and they wear their emotions on their sleeve. He feels personally vindicated right now but it is inevitable that another issue will test him. Stay cool and nuetral with it and he will always come back to you for a shoulder to lean on.
ick, so sorry! Any chance that you can stay in contact?
Last night, my father sent me some crazy emails like:
"You bastard have taken a vow but do not pay. Now you get your receipt."
When I replied that he can keep his receipts, he sent me this line:
"Apostates are scum to me, they are dirt. The world will go well without them."
Some days before he said to me that he has never been happier.
Two weeks ago he attended the CA, he mentioned that they defined there when someone is spritual weak and when someone is apostate.
It is sad what religious fanatism makes out of people.
They say that an ex-smoker is more zealous against smoking than someone who has never smoked...the same is similar with a recovering alcoholic.
His test will be the next time the brothers "disappoint" him.
(((hugs)))
