Bill Bennett, talk radio host who got in some pretty hot water over this statement made this a point of interest. It can be said that if more people were aborted, it would assist in a reduction of crime, but what a way to get to those numbers down!!!

Let it also be noted that I never faulted him for this statement of fact that had mostly been taken out of context.

It's a logical conclusion, where there are fewer people to invest in, due to massive amounts of abortions taking place, that somewhere over time, crime would automatically decrease as well, but there would, also, be fewer people to fill the job market or fuel the economy. There would be less people who could be counted for going to church services. There would be fewer people to fill the prison populations, there are too many ways to swing this, but yes, that is one area. It depends on what side the axe is being swung.

This is one area that I will admit can and will make a difference. Those who have been having children out of wedlock, or thru unplanned or unwanted pregnancies, often are the parents of those who would prefer not to keep a better than careful watch over their children. I live in the heart of the ghetto and am witness to much of those children who just never made it to the abortion table. "As long as these children aren't causing me any confusion in my house, I don't care what they do outside, just get out of my house!!!"

Single parent households, primarily run by women are where a lot of the breeding for these problem children have their beginning. Absent fathers or "Babbie's Daddies" are the principle cause for a host of the problems that have come to visit our neighbourhood in the form of their children. So yes there are reasons why there are problems with our children and yes, many of these are the crop that abortion may have settled, but there would also show up missing, those who would have been able to pass successfully thru the fire and come out OK as well.

Don't ya' just love manipulating statistics? There are so many variables that impact the crime rate, it is somewhat naive to attribute a single cause to a single effect. Having said that, Freakonomics was a really good read and probably accurate in many of its conclusions. The conclusion here is that people who want abortions should have them - otherwise unwanted children are the result. And unwanted children are usually neglected and abused. And children who are neglected and abused often turn to crime. And the cycle is repeated from generation to generation.

Just like TwoBlackBelts said; this is straight out of “Freakanomics” nothing original here. Plagiarism at the best

Actually, the news program Free2Be is talking about was an interview with the "freakanomics" author and cited the book as the source for the theory.
