Do not be loving either the world or the things in the world. 1 John 2:15 If we find delight in Jehovah’s Word, “the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the showy display of one’s means of life” will lose much of their allure. (1 John 2:16) Further, if we associate with those who put the interests of god’s kingdom first, we will become like them, loving what they love and avoiding what they avoid. (Ps. 15:4; Prov. 13:20) Hating lawlessness and loving righteousness helped Jesus to keep his eyes on “the joy that was set before him.” (Heb. 12:2) The same can be true of us. We know that “the world is passing away and so is its desire.” Any gratification that this world affords is only temporary. However, “he that does the will of God remains forever.” (1 John 2:17) Because Jesus did God’s will, he opened the way for humans to gain everlasting life. (1 John 5:13) May we all imitate him and benefit from his integrity. W 1/1/05 12, 14, 15 My crazy mom's comment: Can you imagine Jesus not obey his father’s every command? What would have happened to us if he said: “Father, I love you and I love man. But I am tired of having to answer to you. I want to do what I want to do. I don’t anyone to answer to. I will do things my way and you will just have to accept that.” Or if he said: “I have been afraid of not pleasing you all my life, since you created me ions ago. You will have to accept my wishes now that I am away from you.” Or, “You are a god of love, and you must love me and accept me no matter what I decide to do. I don’t want to obey you any more.” We see rebellion like that in almost every household here on earth, also in the heavens with Satan and his demons. Thankfully Jesus loved serving his heavenly father with a respect fear of displeasing him. Jesus took delight in the word of his father and followed it diligently. By doing just as he was told, Jehovah said: “This is MY son whom I have approved!” But Jehovah was disappointed in his sons Satan and Adam. They did as they pleased and look at the mess we are in! I want to be like Jesus and obey Jehovah and his commands to preach, teach, attend meetings, associate with those who put Jehovah’s kingdom interest first. I want to remain forever, do you?
UHHHH - wonder who she could be talking about there? Oh yeah, that is what I told her. I guess she is comparing herself to God now. I am sure he is pleased with that.
