I always remember a point to the Watchtower study, was that your comments should be about something that meant something to you or something you learned from the experience. Well, did anyone have a brother or sister in the congregation who did this ...

"I would like to define the meaning to the most simplest word in this paragraph, to see if I can seem smart for knowing how to use a dictionary?"

... When I say simple word, I mean people defining "honor" or maybe something like "knowledge" or any other word a person with an education beyond the forth grade would know without the look-up. It was pathetic and it made the otherwise normal boring Watchtower study, into this laughable annoying time frame of minutes, that just seemed to crawl even slower on that sunny Sunday, that had you wanting to go outside and get out of these stuffy clothes. Yet before we do, lets define the word annoying.

annoying - To cause slight irritation to (another) by troublesome, often repeated acts.

Any answer with the phrase starting "thoes scientists..."
Then going on a tangent on how the big bang is impossible.

For any who still attend meetings, count the number of times you hear someone say, "And we can appreciate that..." in one comment.

Proof that I was paying attention to the Public Talk: "As the brother brought out in his talk..." only to bring out some innocuous platitude that he read from the outline.

Proof that I am listening to the comments of others: "To go along with what (sister/brother) so-and-so said..." only to add an obvious conclusion to a previous comment.

Proof that we are all learning the SAME THINGS: "I had the same thought." (ain't our spiritual paradise grand?) Of course you had the same thought, your thoughts are programmed to be the same. If you had a different thought it could lead to more different thoughts and before long you would start posting on JWD because no JW would listen to your different thoughts anymore (looking at scholar and Schizm).

Proof that I am better than others: "...so we don't (fill in the blank) with/like the worldy people under Satan's control."

OMG, you hit the thing that keeps the kids and I amused at meetings these days.... We count the number of times a certain elder uses the word "appreciate". He had a 12min service meeting part once where he said appreciate 35 times. No lie. We thought of putting a thesaurus in a gift bag and leaving it in the library for him. Funny, all I remember of his talks is that word, nothing at all about the topic. ~merfi, of the Unappreciative Class
