Multilingual kids can be beneficial. I'm a fan of english and Spanish as the US is close to Mexico. Although the world's most spoken language is Chinese, unless you are in China, you probably won't be affected by it. With trade agreements and the world becoming smaller with technology, I feel language will give kids the edge in the future. Kids are more easily taught whilst young.
Whilst in Vancouver, BC I was shocked that being able to speak English and Spanish, I still couldn't speak to 1/2 the people there. I did get excited a few times on the sky rail when I heard people speaking Spanish!
