What kind of safety precautions do dubs take for field service?

Well of course there are the angelic protectors, who appear as "big men" to evil doers...

Then there is the wise practice of working in pairs. For example, the circuit servant might work with one of the elders while a teen age girl works with an septuginarian. That way both teams are safe, see? Teen age pioneers wil work together. If they run into trouble, they will remember that self defense is satanic, but screaming is okay. Hopefully they will not be terrorized into silence. If a sister gets into difficulty, it is her fault for not using sound judgement - never the fault of thw WTB&TS for sending naifs from door to door.

Hollywood needs to put JWs on the "victims" list for some of their upcoming horror movies. The beneficial subliminal effect on JW yoot could be great.

In one instance my wife told me that she and my daughter entered the home of this "crazy catholic" guy. His wife was home so they went in to talk to him. They were there for 1/2 hour.

After they left, the lone male in the car group told her, "I was getting worried about you, if you were in there another five minutes I was goin in!"

Keep in mind, this guy is a total raised-a-dub candy ass. My daughter could probably whip this guys ass.

I started to realize just how daft, careless, and irresponsible those making my wife (my young children with her) go out in service. From the gb down to the boe. MORONS!!!

I wonder what kind of safety precautions I could get her to make... at the very friggin least when she is draggin my kids around!

Would it be to much to ask for her NOT to take them to a new door? Or leave them in the car when she works a new door? I mean seriously!

I have thought of bringing it up to her, but I figure she would just figure I was persecuting her. What do you guys think?

CYP, I would suggest that as her "husbandly head" that she never go inside the house of someone she doesn't know even if she is with another sister or with a brother, and especially if she has the children along.

Today's world is very different than even from 10 years ago.

    Blondie,

I thought of playing that card.

I wonder what kind of support I would get from her real "husband".

I mean seriously. Say she is out with 3 Sister Super Pioneer's and one of them says "let's do door to door so you can work on that presentation". Like she is really going to say, "No, I can't. My unbelieving husband has forbidden me to do door to door work with my toddler"

    yeah right

I might get her to agree not to go into houses she doesn't know.

CYP, if you would like to feel your blood run cold and have nightmares for a few days, GOOGLE "ALBERT FISH" and read about his exploits in New York City during the 1940's. You may want to have a bucket handy.

Considering that field service really isn't optional, the WTBTS does have some "employer's" obligation over it's volunteers. http://www.nonprofitrisk.org/pubs/PDFs/sll.pdf

If she doesn't take the toddler, are you available to babysit? Or a qualified person of your choosing? At least the child will be better off. BTW, while you can't stop her from going, legally, you can put your foot down about the children going door to door...as the "husbandly head." But then it might make things tense at home.

I remember that there was one house whose owner sat there with a gun whever we were on the block. The elders decided that we should not call on his house, but all the other houses remained in "range" (literally).

I remember a brother that used to open and close the car door to make sure they had no dogs.

One of these days it's going to happen: there's going to be some Witness that is lured inside a home, raped and murdered. If and when that day comes, I'm wondering if non-Witness family members would have any grounds to sue the WTS for not taking any methods to protect their "volunteers".
