I thought you had no choice in the matter. Also, in CoC book, Franz brought out that Rutherford had told Schroeder to get his butt out to Bethel, but Schroeder wanted to first finish his college education and then he came out to NY.

Sounds like we might have a case of INDEPENDANT THINKING. hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Again - depends who you are. Same with his son Judah Ben. College education for benefit of the WT Society. He'll probably move into the swanky D.U.M.B.O apts. when that is finished.

Yes, each JW has a choice, but they do not understand it that way. I will have to dig out one of my posts on this topic. It shows how the Society makes it quite clear that one can choose the heavenly hope. It was a particular srticle on it that I made the choice, and openly professed such for 20 years. No, I was not a nutcase as the Watchtower likes to suggest about newly anointed, but served as an edler, etc., blah, blah. After my current thread on the Bible burns out, I will reporst my "Anointed" thread. It may shock some of the more recent members of JWD.

A GB member's son decided to ignore their advice not to bother with unversity education and he is doing quite well, he will have a good position in the org.

My impression is that they don't want young JWs to go to uni because they will become critical thinkers see the WTS for what it is and expose it. However Judah is safe being an organisation man.

I think it simply is a blatant example of the fact that the GB runs the WTS like a business - duh! - they analyze the market, size up what it will bear, figure the profit margins, do a "GOING OUT OF BUSINESS" sale every so often (1918, 1925, etc.) - and oh, yes - leave the business to their heirs (in this case, sonny-boy Judah Ben).

BTW, in this scenario, the "customers" are the rank and file. One born every minute.

But answer me this: If you were Judah Ben, would you really give a rat's a$$ whether or not the 'business' is legitimate? After all, it's been around for over 100 years. Who cares if the product is crap as long as the R & F still buy it?

If memory serves, the WTS claimed in print that they didn't begin to baptize "Other Sheep" until 1934...
