This weeks study mag, March 15th has on page 26 an article re. the New Members, Anthony Morris and Geoffrey W Jackson . Both are men believed to be in their fifties who joined Bethel in 2002 or 2006. They both came from the the "Nethanim Class" of helpers to the GB .

    w92 4/15 p. 31 Announcement ***
Therefore it has been decided to invite several helpers, mainly from among the great crowd, to share in the meetings of each of the Governing Body Committees, that is, the Personnel, Publishing, Service, Teaching, and Writing Committees. Thus, the number attending the meetings of each of these committees will be increased to seven or eight. Under the direction of the Governing Body committee members, these assistants will take part in discussions and will carry out various assignments given them by the committee. This new arrangement goes into effect May 1, 1992.

It is interesting to note the comments of am ex Bethel insider, Barbara Anderson, as found on the Freeminds site.

"All subsequent Governing Body appointees have first spent time as assistants, e.g.. Gerrit Lösch, Sam Herd, Guy Pierce, Stephen Lett, David Splane, Geoffrey Jackson and Anthony Morris. Inasmuch as all of these men were of the “other sheep” class, and since they were living in the last days and expected to live through the “great tribulation,” that would have made them part of the “great crowd” of “other sheep.” In time, each man came to believe he was called to become part of the “anointed remnant.” And that calling could make him available to become a member of the Governing Body. Hence, the “Given Ones” arrangement could prove to be a ‘proving ground’ for potential new Governing Body members"

Now Barbara, who knew them personally, says that these men were formerly members of the Great Crowd , which would tie in with the whole illustration of the Nethanim . But they now qualify to be included in the group since this WT article confirms that "All members of the Governing Body are anointed Christians"

A cynical person might just reason that their new found "Heavenly calling" could have something to do with the opportunity to serve on the GB?? But that would be imputing false motive to others , wouldn't it??

The JW's are truly an intriguing religion. The ability of their hierarchy to issue decrees with the appropriate semantics and convoluted logic is really a wonder to behold....a study in intellectual perversity, actually, as the R&F march off to do their master's bidding, completely oblivious to the "plank" they are walking. It should be known as the "Hannibal Lechter" religion for its ability to mask its nefarious machinations with a cherubic face.

Lett claimed to have gotten his 'calling' when at Bethel as a priveledged young man in his 20's. It seems fair to say that without the stimulous of the experience of being at Bethel working with his idols his delusions would not have bloomed. Ask most anyone who claims to be "annointed" and you will find that there was a trigger, some moment of piousness, some expression of admiration, some personal tragedy, etc. Your observations are likely correct about the psychology involved for at least some of them.

Euphemism, a not as frequent now poster on JWD, has a father who is anointed who knows the one who is from the US and he has been partaking for at least 20 years. Did Barbara leave Bethel in 1986?

I have this suspicion that most if not all of these GB members believe that they are anointed so that they can participate in the GB and that's why they never properly explain what makes a JW anointed and just say: "it is something between them and God" so that they can not be evaluated as they give no criteria of evaluating the claims of the anointed.

Some of these younger ones may have been instructed to say they are anointed so as not to create an uproar among the dubs who expect all GB to be "anointed"

I thought the article on the new members of the governing body to shallow and strange.
Given that the 'annointed class' are supposed to have all been chosen by the mid 1930's, there is no explanationation as to how two men who started pioneering in the 1970's (and who therefore probably weren't even born in the 1930's) could be of the annointed.
The WTB&TSs myth, it seems, is self perpetuating.

I saw that too and thought "What the Heck?" I remembered the 1992 article saying they weren't of the anointed at the time of joining the Governing Body. Figures that now they would claim to be of the anointed. Funny isn't it that all of the so called other sheep on the governing body all felt the urge to be anointed. LOL These frigging nut cases, and so many foolish people following so blindly. I know of one gal that felt she was of the anointed but when they added non-anointed men to the Governing Body she decided something wasn't right. She eventually left the witnesses and told the Elders that when men who were not anointed were added to the GB she knew it was not the true religion. They have left her alone, and she has faded. She has come to see that being anointed is pure baloney, and that all Christians should partake of the wine and bread if they follow in the path of Jesus Christ. Don't you think that is why they told them to claim anointing is because people were leaving the witnesses over this? I certainly do.
