Ok... I remember ( Or at least what I recall..lol) how god had always dealt with people in the bible...kinda like there was 'proof' of him for all those thousands of years...right? ....Well how come nothing in the last nearly two thousand years?

I mean what's up with that????

If there was a god how come he let the bible get distorted and let all these religions start? And then is going to damn people because of what religion they are in when it is all his fault because he never set the record straight...so to say!

I hope you know what I am getting at or what I mean..LOL...I am tired tonight!

Legolas, I am with you on this one. When Adam sinned, the punishment was immeadiate, out of the garden, away from the tree of life, death process started.Pain and suffering was and is the order of the day.

When Jesus paid the price for Adam's decendants over 2.000 years ago why hasn't God done the same that he did back in the garden. Why not immeadiate reward, back into the garden, return to the tree of life and the death process reversed. Happiness and pleasure being the order of the day.

Can anyone give us a solid reason and or answer to this? Why the delay?

I do know what you mean. I've felt that way before. But what I have found true for me is that He DOES reveal himself but not with water to wine or parting seas or lightning from heaven. He reveals Himself to those that search for him and it's on a one to one personal basis. I've truely looked for him and begged him to show me he was there. He finally did. I still have battles of faith but I really have a relationship with Him now and I don't know how I ever was a beleiver in the WT. I can see why so many leave it and become anti god and anti religion. I am in fact anti religion, and so is the church I go to. We don't have man made rules and we don't judge. We just congregate to praise God in prayer and song and fellowship with beleivers and other than that, it's between you and your creator what you do. I hope and pray that you will connect with Him and find that faith in Him that you're missing at this moment. Don't feel bad for ever having doubts either. Just press on and daily ask God to show you he's there...He Will, I Promise.

In one whoop God punished all mankind for what Adam did. Why not do the one whoop reward for all mankind for what Jesus did?

God exists in the cracks of science.

    As science expanded, god shrank.

It is heretic cult-groups like the Watchtower, Mormons, Adventists, etc. that brings about this frustration. Instead, Jesus made it clear that He would be with his Church all days right up to the end of the world. Also, Jesus said that the Holy Spirit would lead, teach, comfort and guid the Church. But, that is about it I guess. However, there was never a promise of action to prove God is till around, not until the end.

If there was a god how come he let the bible get distorted and let all these religions start? And then is going to damn people because of what religion they are in when it is all his fault because he never set the record straight...so to say!
Cult-like groups distorted and then worshipped the Bible as the Word of God. It is the heretical groups like the Watchtower that has perverted God's will and created false and foolish expectations. The only Word of God is Jesus - not the Bible. The Christian portion of the Bible did not begin to get compiled and decided upon until nearly 400 years after Christ. The Bible is a tool, but not the source of the Christian faith. The Bible contains God's words, but it of itself is not the guarantee of our faith.

I know what you mean. I have gone through various phases of agnosticism, or what some call Christian agnosticism. It has taken me 14-years to get to the point of going back to Church. Take your time, for we all need time to grieve, to be angry, and to heal. It is understandable. I am recently affiliated with Greek Orthodox, which is alligned in faith with Catholicism, except it does not submit to Rome. The confusion with religions is likely the work of the devil influencing stupid and selfish people. Freewill has its down-sides. But, I think, that God is strong enough to reach us individually and give us the gift of faith, not in men or institutions, but in Jesus Christ. Jim Whitney

Leggie, not all churches or christians believe God wrote the Bible. The Episcopal Church recognizes that it's the Catholic Church who chose which books would be included in the Bible. They teach that during translations, people did change things over time and some deliberately to fit their agenda. They use reason and science when trying to interpret the Bible we have today. Very refreshing in the big fundy climate we live in these days.

Oh yeah, they use a three leg stool approach to the scriptures: scripture, tradition and reason.

Legolas, I know what you're trying to say. People NEED to believe that bad things that happen will not go unpunished or that they will get avenged for the wrong-doing even if they are dead. That's how many get through this crazy world. Also, it's ingrained in us to believe in a higher power that prevents the world from self-destructing. Out all the "evil", that we see or that has happened, the "world" is still here.

That's how we get to the theory of evolution and to the Genesis theory. Either you believe one or the other...I don't know what I believe any more. I don't think that human evolved from apes! But, it's hard to believe that someone took some dirt and put it together and built a man. We see stuff growing from the dirt every day, but the scientist have been unable to create a man from dirt (A test tube with an embryo doesn't count. IMHO). Scientist can explain the growth process, but they can't explain how the dirt got here; not unless you believe in the Big Bang Theory...well, er, ah, I dunno...

I gotta tell you that dirt is amazing stuff!

I don't believe the Bible has ever changed. Neither has God. It has been said that God made man in His image and man has been retuning the favor ever since.

People try to make God into something or someone that they can understand from the mind set that they have. If it makes sense that God is an alien and there's a bunch more just like him, you will follow that. If staying on earth forever sounds appealing, then you will follow a utopian version of that. You can find proof-texts to support virtually any religion you want to invent, from the Bible, but if you read the whole thing IN CONTEXT, then this other stuff just falls apart. Only if you can keep people from digging deeper on their own, will you be able to convince them that the Bible says something that it does not.

If you back off of your own reasonings, and read what He really has to say, it is very enlightening.

Look over the 10 commandments. Good rules, right? If everyone abided by them, the world would be pretty nice. Perfect, in fact.

How many have you broken? I venture to say I have broken every last one of them.

So, I go to the judge on the last day, and he is a very good judge. He doesn't play favorites and he doesn't take bribes. His motto: Do the crime, do the time. I've broke every rule in the book, and now I am standing before the judge. I say, "Gee, I am very sorry! Please forgive me!" Now, how is a good judge going to respond? "That is good that you are sorry, but I have to sentence you. You are guilty and you have to pay the price."

Then in walks a guy that I don't even know and says, "I know this person is guilty. But I am willing to pay for their crime, even though I have never done ONE thing wrong in my entire life. Punish me for what this person did. I'll pay the price, no matter what it is. I love this person. I'll do this for them."

How would you feel toward that person? They just saved you from the electric chair! Wouldn't you accept their gift and be thankful toward them? All you have to do is accept their gift. Then, since you are so grateful, you feel compelled to tell your friends and family about how this guy saved your life! As a result of them saving you, you start doing awesome things for others. You have a new beginning, and you are not going to waste it. You will be forever thankful to that guy who saved you! He's your new best friend and you will trust him the rest of your life.

This world is so wrapped up in the "feel-good" religions. The Bible doesn't promise you a "feel-good" experience, when you come to Christ. In fact, it lets you know that it won't be easy. The peace comes from knowing that He is in charge and that you belong to Him. No one can snatch you away.

I went through hell on earth a few years ago. I could never have made it through something like that, before I knew Jesus. He made Himself apparent over and over in that time. I have no doubt that He is there. He is exactly as the Bible portrays Him. I'm living proof. He walked me thorugh the fire, and I have the scars, but I am still here and I am still a Christian. Even when it doesn't "feel-good"! Even when I don't understand "why". I put all my trust in Him. Because I obeyed Jehovah and came to His Son for forgiveness, I am now a child of God. I finally "get it" and I will never lose it!

What other "religion" can offer that? Perfect security and a relationship with the one and only true and living God?
