So they are not allowed to find out that there is a world outside that is enjoying itself - another form of black mail by the "peers" in the group ...... Pretty sad huh?

I think a big part of it is that when you get privileges revoked people notice . As in "Brother so and so hasn't been carrying mikes for a long time I wonder what he did wrong". Especially if it is a smaller hall where the need for brothers is great, I mean people will know and then you will be labeled "bad association". The buzz begins and their goes your social life (if you can call it that). I mean for young people who can't play sports, have "worldly" friends and participate in extra curriculur activities getting the BA label can be devestating. The elders hold all the power to destroy these young mens reputations without even saying a word to the congregation. It makes me sick.

You won't get this probably, bgurtryal, but they fear being seen as a pedophile. Yep, WT spokesperson JR Brown noted that a pedophile would not have privileges and that therefore the congregation would know to not trust him, or the substance thereof.

As a teenager, if others your age were publically reproved, or had privillages revoked, than the parents usually discouraged their kids from hanging out with them, and that can be very devastating when the teen JW is not allowed to make friends outside the hall.
Also, when you have been in for so long that all your friends are JWs, it is awfully lonely when they think you are bad associations, even if you have not been Dfd.

hmm funny, I was labeled "bad association" before i lost my privleges... Of course to confirm what you said, they flat out told me in an elders meeting that if I lost my privleges, that I would be considered "bad association". hehe, I moved congregations before they could ever tell me i lostem though... TAKE THAT YOU BUNCHA *Derogatory term removed*

I agree with Hungryforlife....
The elders use this as a means to "control" their "sheep" so to speak. This is the means of being the judge and jury over the congregations, the way they tear down the chidren in the congregations and rip apart the familys. By lableing the child or children of certain parents as undesirable is the way they can keep their "clicks" the way they want....I find it interesting that the congregations remind me of High School...If you ran with certain children you got all the privledges - kind of a teachers pets so to speak. Think of the elders in the cogregations...like the teachers in High school...and they choose who will be in and who will be out... -

It's funny, the second time that I got my privilages back, I got into a fight with the second school conductor because I specifically told him that I wouldn't be in the school unless he understood that I would NOT be giving any talks from any of the publications except the Bible or the Reasoning from the Scriptures book.
I was told by the PO that if I went to the prom I would lose my priviledges.

Seems very funny. Now why do you suppose they wouldn't allow you to only give talks from those publications I wonder??? More mind control????

Oh believe it or not, I was "allowed" to do that. However, in my next "fact finding committee" (judicial committee in sheeps clothing, only 2 elders) it was mentioned.

i never asked for privileges. i always had privileges thrust upon me because i was so dang dependable.
ugh, i hated mike duty. HATED it. I had platform duty at assemblies a few times, i hated it because i had to pay attention to the talks.
