"According to believers, God is answering millions of their prayers every day. Prayer seems to be especially powerful in the medical arena - God eliminates cancers, kills viruses, reverses the efffects of poisons, heals internal organs, repairs injuries etc."

The above quote is taken from an ex-Christian website. If you a JW considering joining a church that believes in miraculous cures, please spend time thinking about the question: If God is supposed to be healing the medical problems of Christians, why does he never restore the limbs of Christians who are amputees?

Because it is better with one eye and one leg and one arm to go to heaven than to hell with all the limbs in place!

    Shazard said it the best!!!
The REAL truth to this can be explained in either two ways:

    1. God is powerless and/or dosn't exist
    2. God dosn't work in such a way.

Thats about it. Either he's not there or healing people isn't something he's doing right now. I've been to some of these "healing" and "faith revivals". In my opinion it was all a bunch of junk. I didn't see the power of God there, I saw the power of people getting emotional over nothing.

drew sagan: You say that the fact that amputees' limbs are not being restored can be explained in 2 ways: "Either he's not there or healing people isn't something he's doing right now." Its hard to argue with that. It is, of course, viewed differently by many Christians. For them, God IS performing miraculous cures today.

In talking to some born again Christians recently, they told me how they had personally witnessed miraculous cures take place right in front of them. They mentioned that God had miraculously cured fellow believers of conditions like lupus and fibromyalgia. If I were one of them, I might wonder why God was taking the trouble to provide these kind of 'miraculous' cures, and yet never taking the trouble to restore the limbs of amputees.

If they were Christian star fish, loosing a leg would be a non-event. Takes about 30 days to grow a new one!

Why would anyone assume that God has anything to do with human bodies? These bodies we occupy are symbols of our dream of separation from God and designed to enhance that dream. We have created them by our own thoughts. If God had made them they would be perfect, immortal, and indestructible. They certainly are not. We therefore need to consider that perhaps God didn't make them. The dream of separation is in our minds, not God's. When Jesus healed the lame man at the pool, he simply asked him, "What is holding you back?" Could it be our own belief that we are bodies instead of immortal souls.
