They call up the Witch of Endor at a committee meeting via the Urim and Thumin, get the names of the new Nethinim (actually Nephilim), and have the newly appointed drink blood and boom, they're infallible. Tell me it's not so!

They select those with the brownest of noses.

You have to wait and see what color smoke comes out of the chimalee 25 Columbia Heights.

Don't pay any attention to Lawrence and his wild ideas. Everyone knows that any candidates for the GB are presented to the Jedi Council where Yoda has the final say.

    Mary-

So right! Can you imagine Yoda visiting Barry for his 100th birthday? Lots of smoke.

Actually, think about it, how are the elders selected, basically by the other elders from the ranks of the MS.

So looking at the available pool of male anointed who are in "good standing" (good health too) usually working at Bethel so they can be scrutinized, the current GB make their selection. As in the selection of elders, usually there is one or two of the GB that have strong personalities and maneuver the GB members to select their candidate. Then they vote on the candidates; if a majority is achieved then the minority has to support the decision of the majority making it sort of unanimous.

The GB members represent the FDS Class. When new GB members are chosen it is through a ballot cast by all members of the FDS Class. Emails are sent to all of the FDS Class and all can either vote or send their proxies back to one of the two warring factions of the GB.

A little known fact that is not directly related to the topic is that no WT article can make it to the magazine unless it is approved by a majority vote of the FDS Class. The Society started doing things this way so that they could not be falsely accused of being untruthful when saying that the articles were food in season from the FDS.

    Fairmind,

If you are serious, I just wanted to say that this was absolutely NOT true while I was at Bethel (when the GB program was just being implemented). It was denied to have ever been the case since by those who have known the inner workings since then. And it is extremely unlikely to be the case in any of the years since then until the present. If you were referring to the idea that such decisions might be approved by the actual "legal" members of the "Watchtower Society," per se, then you should know that they are not identified as anointed, although many legal members are considered to be "anointed" as that term is used by JWs.

Also, Watchtower articles were rarely ever "approved" by any group of people outside the Writing Committee of the GB. Many articles are hardly even looked at by anyone outside the Writing Committee. And there was often NO involvement by even a single person claiming to be of the anointed for many Watchtower articles.
