Well... i've finally worked up the courage to get an account & start posting on this site. I've been lurking for a couple of months now, voraciously reading all the, mmm, "delightful words of truth" i've found here. I'm currently deep in dubdom, so i have to be pretty ambiguous about some personal details, (i'm really paranoid, hopefully that will pass :-/) but my story in a nutshell is: i was born into this religion, baptised in my mid teens, happily married to a wonderful (& thankfully, somewhat open-minded) JW lady, & now, several years later, i'm starting to seriously question some of what i believe. i feel i'm fairly open-minded. i took the WT apologist view for a while, but i'm coming to realize that some things in this religion just don't make sense from any viewpoint. i still have a strong faith in God & the Bible, but i'm open to critical thinking on pretty much everything at this point. due to my personal circumstances, i will usually be checking this forum every day, but i probably won't be able to post very often. i'm not exagerating when i say that EVERYONE around me is a JW... it's hard for me to find time & privacy to post here. *looking over shoulder* i feel my posting on this board is the beginning of a long personal journey... here's to hoping it's a good one! thanks in advance for the acceptance & support i know this fine group of people will offer. lost_sheep

Welcome, Lost Sheep... Glad you're here.

The number of people who are stepping out of the shadows really seems to be speeding up. I know how you feel. (Believe me.)

I still remember the day that changed my life forever. Yes, I'd been questioning for some time, but after reading Tom Cabeen's paper, "Does God Work Through an Organization," on September 15th, 2004, I knew my whole family had been misled. Here's a link to it if you'd like to read it...

Welcome from this guy. I just started poking around the other day, I need this therapy. It is hard to loose all your so called friends and family so be ready when it happens. Good luck it is a fantastic journey and you will actually breathe the air if you proceed.

    Welcome Lost_Sheep (LS)

I'm glad you've made the step of posting. It can be very good to get things off your chest, ask questions and just generally make some friends.

Too bad everyone around you is a witness. That will make fading more difficult if you go that route.

I too have an open minded, to a point, wife. Treat her with love and respect and you'll get through this.

Oh and by the way, I too believe in God and the Bible. I don't think you're lost anymore - you're savior and King knows where you are and what you need.

Welcome and don't worry, many people here have been down the same pathway and can readily identify with your situation.

There are indeed many points in the WTS teachings that don't square up and their reluctance to allow open discussion on any issue shows that they have things to hide.
