Hi, Sam. The reason your girlfriend’s mom does not want anything to do with you yet still accept others based on how they dress and where they go to school is because she is shallow and narrow-minded. It’s a hard lesson to have to learn, but adults (and especially Jehovah’s Witnesses) can be terribly unfair for no good reason at all. Resolve now not to be that kind of person when you become an adult. In the meantime it looks like your only reasonable option is to try to forget this girl. Best of luck to you.

Also, one thing I forgot to mention was that its only this girls mothers side of the family that is religious. Her father has nothing to do with religion. Her parents have been together since they were 13, so you would think they would understand what we're going through. Its just seems impossible to get through.

Hi Sam, and welcome to the forum. I'm afraid I can't offer you any advice, other than reiterating what several other posters have pointed out. The jws do not like their children dating anyone outside their religion, and however long you wait for her, she will not see you with the blessing of her parents. They will always be opposed.

    I wish you well

    Linda

It's very sweet the relationship you have. And I guess it's difficult at your age to work out why the mother would discourage the relationship. Although you sound very mature, and have done a good thing to seek other adult opinions, most teenagers are acting on emotions and pumped up hormones (god I remember what I was like when I developed testosterone). The mother will be looking at the situation based on years of her experience and in the knowledge (which is probably true) that this will, sadly, not be the love of your life. We all go through many relationships and many experiences in growing and learning. I hope all works out well for you.

The thing is however, that how can her mother think like this when she was in a relationship when she was just 13, who is which her husband right now. They went through the same as we are, but they do not want to make it any easier. Like me, her father is not religious and doesnt mind me. Her mother is a JW and does not want anything to do with me. If she was with someone at 13 years of age and grew up to be with them until present, which is 25 years on, how can she not think the same could happen to her daughter?

Who said life was going to be easy mate? You wouldn't be posting on a message board if there was an easy answer.

the jw stuff aside, maybe she doesnt want the same for her daughter?

having been there and done that herself maybe she thinks she'd like her daughter to have the opportunity to shop around and have a bit more life instead of tying herself to someone while still so young.

I've been involved with this girl for a year now.

Okay, I might be a bit of a hard-ass but....

YOU ARE INVOLVED IN NOTHING. There's no relationship. A relationship involves evolving to new levels. You aren't evolving with this girl. You are forced to remain as friends. That's all you've got, and that's as far as you're going to get.

I just cant walk away from everything now. We've been through a lot together and have got through it all. I just couldnt forget about her.

Quit watching Disney movies. Love does not conquer all. That's a pile of horseshit that has been fed to you through society.

Here's a fact: The longer you DO pursue this girl, the longer you're going to be frustrated, and the longer you're going to be a slave to your emotions. Your eyesight is clouded by your emotions, and you're tripping over reality. You're going to end up falling flat on your face if you don't watch where you're going.

You are correct that you'll never forget this girl, but the emotional pain you feel will disappear faster if you cut contact with her.

The thing is however, that how can her mother think like this when she was in a relationship when she was just 13, who is which her husband right now.

Fact: All JWs are hypocrites. There's nothing you can say to make them see how foolish they are, just like everything I'm telling you won't sink in.

But perhaps you need to learn the hard way and waste a few years of your life mourning over your "loss" with this JW girl.
