Hey all, had to have routine blood tests the other day for bubs, they test for everything HIV, Syphilis etc......

It really got me thinking just how scary life can be at times, I mean how many of us have slept with someone unprotected without knowing anything bout them????? It got me thinking it only takes one person to say have HIV and that can be enough. Not that I have slept around alot, infact only with two other people but thats enough.

Ive been talking to heaps of my friends and either them or there partner have slept around alot more unprotected and have been lucky enough, I know im being stupid im confident im ok but still i dont want to be the unlucky one get me.

I know im being a little melodramatic it just got me serioulsy thinking

    Hi Es,

I know what you mean. The fear of disease kept me from sleeping around, much more so than fear of sinning, or being caught.

Each decision we make has a consequence; good or bad. Those decisions many times affect our loved ones - take my cousin killing himself a few months back - although everyone has moved on; his mom is left with grief beyond our wildest imaginations.

I didn't know this until after his death that he had tried to kill himself many times; I take that to mean at least a dozen times thru the years.

I ended up having a HIV test about 10 years ago because I had been a bit "busy" for a couple of years while at University. It's a scary feeling waiting for the test results when you have that doubt in your mind but it does bring home some small feeling of having to live up the consequences of your actions.

There are consequences to all of our actions and we have to live with them big or small, we all make cock ups at times but generally get away with out catestrophic repercussions. Having said that there are the small percentage of incidents which do come home with a vengeance, and it's those that really hurt us, though we cannot live without risk - sometimes you have to accept that life is no the safest place sometimes and just jump (although unsafe sex with someone you don't know is plain daft these days).

yeah def SLH......like you said its the waiting, I mean like i said its a routine test when you get pregnant, but still its the waiting and knowing there is always that possibility.

I guess im just so glad now that im married to hubby and dont have to worry bout those kind of things anymore

Hi Es. It can be pretty scary...my husband had the test done before we married, as he was quite "busy" before we met. It was an awful long wait until the results came in negative..

    YUP.

Ive ended up in the clinic with some minor STD that was cured in 3 treatments.

How lucky was I. Best of luck Es.

    Hi Es,

When I had both of my boys they did a multitude of tests. I thought well if I am HIV positive, better to know so that I can take the treatments so the baby will be okay and possibly not have HIV.

I had a negative status both times, but theres always that creeping fear in the back of my mind. Especially when they learn new things about all these diseases everyday.

Don't worry, I am sure everything will be fine. At the most they may find you to be anemic or something else you need extra vitamins to manage.

    Big hugs,

    Chrystal
