Plenty of emphasis on "Deliverance", no doubt to convince the fence sitters that Jehovah's Day is near.

I like the typical talk for Young People on remembering their "Grand Creator" - it will be likely (TM) be about not wasting their youth on higher education and careers and to seek Bethel Service and Pioneering.

Here's the same program but with Watchtower Spoof...

Keep a Scriptural View of Health Care

This should be an interesting part. Just what do the scriptures say about health care? And what are so many JWs doing unscriptural with their health care that it would warrant a part on the convention?

Undercover, I once heard some counsel from a circuit assembly a couple of years ago about how some friends take health care and remedies too far, becoming Apsotles of Health.

Well, God forbid that someone tries to stay healthy....

I guess instead of wasting time and energy on being healthy, they're all supposed to be in service. But it does fit in with the general dogma of the religion. The end is coming, Jehovah will fix your problems very soon in the New System.

This is old information but I know of JWs who in the last 5 years have gone to JW "healers" who use this philosophy. This and other types of "health" procedures have concerned the administration. Since the days of Clayton Woodworth, the WTS has focused on strange health cures.

    Magnetic

    and "Hot Hand" Healers

Then there are magnetic healers with strong powers who claim to restore health simply by making stroking movements with their hands. However, a magnetic healer himself explains: "Whoever has powers of healing magnetism to treat more than two people a day is plugged in to the underworld." Are we to assume, then, that those possessing the weak "natural" magnetism are not demoniacally influenced? Such healers may not dabble directly in spiritism and may work "in the name of Jesus." Shedding some light on this, Dr. Koch, during 30 years of dealing with cases of occult subjection, discovered that whenever he came across a person possessing a magnetic "gift," either his parents, grandparents or great-grandparents had dabbled in magic or spiritism!

In Germany a church member found that he could "heal" by means of his "hot hand." The minister of the church praised this ability as a "gift from God." But what about a certain magician in the Philippines who, through occult power, makes his hand "hot" whenever he wishes? And there is also a master of Yoga who by autosuggestion causes the circulation in his hand to increase so that blood comes through the pores, a feat of mental concentration causing a change to take place in his physical body. Would the minister also praise these latter spiritistic phenomena as ‘gifts from God’? Such a religious leader offers little protection against dangerous spiritistic religion.

A check of the concordance did not find a scripture with the phrase "deliverance at hand". The best fit was Luke 21.28 " lift your heads up because your deliverance is getting near"

If that is the theme scripture, can you imagine some old heads saying, "Have we not had this before? and groaning inwardly. After seeing 1975, the passing of the generation of 1914, and recent downsizing of things, only one Awake a month, a measly 1 point something increase last year and everything else, they are entitled to say "It was not supposed to be like this"

I can remember films of the massive conventions in the USA [ was it 1957?] , trailer city, massive overflowing stadiums and the proud boast that they were "the fastest growing religion in the world". Not any more.

When the grey headed ones sit in the smaller, more local, football grounds, eating ham sandwiches brought from home and rationing the hot drinks from their thermos I wonder if they ever wonder if it has all been worth it?

The young ones perhaps have never heard it before and will be impressed by the Drama, and perhaps really believe that "Deliverance is at hand" . The older and wiser will only hope that they are right.

I think they are referring to an older bible translation. The Amplied Bible says:

28 Now when these things begin to occur, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption (deliverance) is drawing near.
