It's necessary to get to know other people over time before deciding to tell them intimate things, if over that time they prove to be trustworthy, usually time reveals one's true character.

Definitely not I'm afraid - I have a good old Scottish cynical streak. I once read somewhere that a cynic is really a crushed romantic!

I think it comes from realising that not everyone will make the same effort or have the same standards as yourself. Dissapointment breeds cynicism in my view.

I think it is a good think to give out a fair amount of trust - as long as it isn't a black and white thing. There are varying levels of trust for different situations.

I too have a propensity to trust people and as a result have paid a huge emotional price at times. But this is part of what makes me who I am and who I want to be. That being said I have come to realize that it up to me to establish appropriate boundaries. This way I can still think the best of persons while be cautious not to be overly trusting or naive.

Yes I have been hurt MANY,MANY times by trusting folks --even when they say they are friends .wish I could remeber Psalms 146.3...But I never so take heed of that scripture. But I guess those who do the dirty on us .... Must have to face the music one day...... I hope.

Felt sorry last night watching Dateline ... the guy that raped a young woman 21 years ago ( a drinker) joined AA & wanted to go back & say sorry to all he offended ,,,So he wrote the young woman ( 21 years later) Well she took him to court he could GO to Jail for life. I see her anger ( which I quite understand) but it might turn other AA attendanents from "confessing all!!!!
