My soon to be ex decided to try an on-line dating service and got scammed out of some money by someone from Nigeria. She/he claimed to be from Georgia, but had to go to Nigeria because she/he said her/his father died. She/he said she/he needed the money because she/he was going to lose her/his internet service. She /he then tried to hit him up for more money saying that her/his mother had been hit by a car.
Is this a new version of the Nigerian scam?

One thing you don't want to do is click on any links in any emails you aren't 110% sure about. You don't have to fill in information on a spoof website anymore. Just clicking a link can lead to spyware being downloaded onto your machine. And responding in anyway to an email lets a phisher know the address is legit; it may be targeted later for less obvious scams.
