Good on you Facts. Glad you had a good time.
It's refreshing having fun, and not looking over your shoulder, isn't it!

For a pragmatic person, there's nothing religious about a birthday, mother's day, or voting. Only a fool would refuse to celebrate their child's anniversary of the date of birth because of a story in a book.
In my opinion, only a fool would do anything because of a story in a book.
Yes, loved 1984, excellent quote

They sound like sweet, well-adjusted kids. I saw the same group in Melbourne a few months ago, we were doing a tree-planting day, and this congregation showed up to help out. It was everything that JWs wanted to be; they worked together happily, they were there out of a genuine sense of community spirit, the younger ones were all happy and good friends. And I noticed that unlike any time I was with JWs doing something that you could consider volunteer work, say working on quickly-built kh, or a busy-bee, there was no constant looking around to see that the worldly people walking by were noticing us and how happily united we all were. They just actually were. It was really sweet.
JWs always say that birthday parties are a time of DISAPPOINTMENT? What are they talking about? What is disappointing about them?
Maybe it's disappointing for their kids, because their kids know all the other kids are celebrating and they want to, too.
Because JWs are continually told that parties/large gatherings are bad, when they eventually do go against the guidelines they "over compensate" and end up behaving in a more unrestrained manner than people "in the world" who socialise freely and regularly.
It's like when they overstep the mark tjhey don't know how to behave - exactly the way they portray everyone else.
