He doesn't sound obsessed to me, more like someone who is having difficulty moving on with his life. How long has he been out of the org? Maybe, in time, he may move beyond the need to debate the wts. Perhaps he may benefit from joining us on here, and debating with us.

Gumby, you make a good point. The problem is that the rules are different for us. Apostates - contrary to what the society teaches - are not trying to start any type of centralized religous group, therefore they have no group of their own within which to spread propoganda, so they have only to target active jws, which in a way plays into a lot of the stereotypes about apostates that the society promotes.

So, while I applaud the apostate activists wholeheartedly, I also have taken a different tack in my situation. I have decided that the burden of proof is not on my shoulders. I am not promoting the view that anybody must agree with me in order to keep living. So, I make a point to ask questions and force my jw family and friends to support statements that they typically make. I have found that asking a jw to explain a dogmatic statement (wordly people are so lost, etc.) has a very noticeable effect. Plus, they cannot accuse me of promoting anything.

OCD is a problem that many people have. Anyways, don't you think we have now become a society of extremists. People feel that unless there is a fire in their belly it is not worth the effort. But some people need to feel something, even if it is anger. Bad feelings are still feelings and some people cannot allow themselves to feel good, so they cling to the angst that they work themselves into over any subject of passion (in this guy's cause the JW religion).

I have two GFs that left the org after me and all they want to do is bash the religion. At this point in my life, I don't care enough to waste my time or working myself up over this religion. I figure that once they have been out for a while longer they will feel the same, they will not care. I finally told them how I felt and I put on condition on it. If they want to share a particular experience with me fine, but the conspiracy theories and the past "wrongs" I cannot participate in and I will either change the subject or go do something else. In my case it worked. My GFs and I have worked out a system that is not exhausting to me and quite fun for all of us.

I feel enough is enough! When are Apostates going to just let it go?

Fighting the WTS is a worthy objective because they are a devious cultic organisation but one shouldn't go as far as becoming obsessed with this issue at the exclusion of everything else. As LT mentioned this is best done as a team effort.

I used to be, but not any more. I wasted 20 years of my life in that cult, and another 3 years complaining about it, and I'm not about to waste any more. I don't look at their literature any more to find errors. What for? How many times to I have to sniff shit in order to determine that it smells bad? I've thrown most of it out, and the rest is on its way. I feel no inclination to help current JWs against their will either. I dislike most JWs anyway, so their shunning me is to my advantage.
