I-follow-the-narrow-path

So... every meeting I go to... my JW and this one woman (rebecca) constantly tell me to socialize with people.
But... I am a shy person... I can not just go up and talk to people I don't know.
Why do they keep pestering me to socialize... can I just not worship? Why do I have to have friends there?
I don't even think the people at the KH are my type... plus they are either older or younger children, who I wouldn't want to do stuff with.
I feel really lonely not knowing anyone and socializing like everyone else, but I take longer to get to know people
any advice?

One reason and one reason only - to ensnare you

Part of the indoctrination is to push people to socialize within the group. Once you begin to center more of your activities within the group you will be expected to stop socializing with people outside the group (who are catergorized as "them", and "outsiders" or "worldly people"

Eventually all outside associations will be limited to the absolute basic necessities and you will be expected to only associate with other JWs. And the more connection you have within the group and the fewer connections outside the group the stronger their hold over you.

It makes the decision to leave extremely difficult if you know no one on the outside

Socializing is just one more way to bond you closer to the group. It helps to control you.Works very good. Lady Lee...Beat me by 2 seconds and with a lot better comment.....

My advce is still: see a doctor immediately and stop studying with them; they're going to damage you more.

its part of the programme, you need to make friends there to replace the ones that you'll be leaving behind. future shunning is ineffective if you havent formed attachments.

if you dont make appropriate progress it may be suggested that your study lady is changed. (this might also happen when the study person grows tired of you or feels theyve done as much as they can)
