If the WT is really a Bible-based organization, why can't it defend it's beliefs from JUST the Bible?? Why all the publications?
What's really bad about this is that those dozens and dozens of books don't really say anything. Some are almost complete duplicates of others where only a title has been changed and a few sentences here and there. How many times did we have to study the same books at the book study and still couldn't explain the times of the end to somebody
I can only think of 1, poztate, and that's their own site .LOL Their stance on the web is completely ludicrous . I have to actually look to find porn and or apostates , they don't come looking for me usually accept sometime porn if I'm in a chat room . The web is very useful and if the WTBTS knew how to use it properly could actually help their own cause . Such as having round table discussions with the "society" all at one time , or being able to tune into various goings on around the globe .
If the WTS ever opened a discussion boiard they would have to have a team of people working around the clock to edit all the things they don't want anyone to read.
They know that if people were allowed to really discuss things the WTS will come out on the short end every time
When I questioned a JW lady who comes by once in a while about why she believed in the bible and her religion, she finally said it is a matter of faith rather than knowledge. I asked her why the bible encourages knowledge of God then? She said so you can build faith and stop questioning. I could only shake my head and smile it was so simplistic a comment for such a complicated issue. She said she didn't need to know or understand all the bible to have faith in it? So I asked her "if you were given a manual of say how to operate your car and it was full of inaccurate information would she have faith in it"? She said "of course not but there is nothing about the bible that is inaccurate." Now this was after hours of discussions pointing out to her contractions, and bizarre events in the bible that were never explained. It was like some sort of wall of ignorance blocked her comprehension. We ended our discussion, and I haven't bothered talking with her in depth anymore. She still brings the literature sometimes and I accept it. She is so focused on the idea of the world being cleansed of all humans except JW's she can think of nothing else.
JW's are simply unable to think and reason beyond the teachings of the WTBTS. And thinking ability is not ever encouraged unless it fits with the Societies already existing thinking.
I fully agree that they are requiring that people can only get the literature through publishers so they can build bible studies. The other thing is that it filters out disf'ed or disas'ed ones from getting literature by which to criticize them. That is why I use the way I do to get literature that way the publisher brings it to me and she is none the wiser that I am an ex-jw.

Not too long ago I made a post here that I think was a good example of the mental block
I had been playing an online game for months. Every time I made a set of three, the score would pop up right over the game and then scroll up. The odd thing was that it took me all those months to actually "see" the scores scrolling up. There they were, covering the game, impeding my view, but for all those months my brain refused to see them.
I think a JW's mental block is very similar. A person can be so focused on one aspect of something he doesn't even see what is right in front of him. The WTS is great at using this ability to prevent people from seeing what is right in front of them even when it is in black and white on the page they are reading.
