Thanks Else, I hadn't seen that before.

There must literally be some sort of body of religious leaders who meet on a regular basis and say: "Yes, we know the Watchtower Society has the Truth, but it is up to us to lie to and deceive the six billion people on the earth into believing what *we* teach."
So funny! Really if we want to take the Watchtowers teachings for what they really are this is the kind of absurd territory we have to go. Almost sounds like some kind of hollywood movie, hmmmmmm
DaVinci Code meets the Watchtower??? A secrect conspiracy in the vatican to hide the "truth"!!!! I think we may have a new best selling novel on our hands.
By the way, these Sirector/Infomant/Kingdom News CDs have just become available this weekend at:

I became a JW in 1971 and as I recall there was general feeling that Satan run all religion except JW's and there was a conspiracy among them to wipe out JW's. In the book Babylon The Great Will Fall it seems that was alluded to a lot. Also the Ezekiel Book too. Those two were being studied in the years when I was still new to JW's.
This article from 1946 seems right in harmony with the general feeling of the JW teachings especially in the 1970's.
I have to laugh now because it is amusing looking back and thinking about how we so conditioned to think Satan was out to get us through all other religions. Talk about persecution complex. The roaring beast of the UN was also out destroy us we had to beware constantly.
You know, you have to hand it to the brilliant absurdity of the watchtower. Time and time again, their own
writing always comes back to bite them in the ass. They recycle the same garbage every five years and pass
it off as "spiritual food." As for the rank and file, have pity on them, for they truly know not what they
do.

See its crap statements like that that make people believe their crap that its meant to be the troooooof, never in a zillion years,
Nice one !
I'm not sure how many "Bible Students" there were in 1914, but I think it was less than 10,000. I once discussed with an elder if he thought that dozens of nations sat down in early 1914 and said, "We object to the large number and influence of these Bible Students. Let's do something about them, okay?" The nations then went to war with EACH OTHER, not the Bible Students, threw millions of men into the trenches to die, suffered millions more dead elsewhere, destroyed most of Europe, all just to keep Jesus from taking kingdom power!!
I don't know exactly what the elder said, but he had a dumb look on his face, and of course, no answer. When I read the WT's version of this scenario, it does tend to look a little ridiculous. I mean, do they honestly believe that the world leaders acted like I've just described? Just because a few thousand "oddballs" were disagreeing with the mainstream churches?? I don't think so.
As Terry has mentioned before, there is a certain psychological thread that runs through the WT and JW's that indicates that many, if not most, of them need several years of therapy. Delusional, persecution complex, "us against the world", and "we are so important that the nations are willing to spend billions of dollars, millions of lives, and destroy entire countries to oppose us" are just a few. I cannot conceive how any thinking JW today can accept this explanation. Thank you.
