I can understand how as former thralls we would have some morbid curiousity about what the FDS/GB has planned.

I predict that whatever the specific content might be, it will be a BALONEY BANQUET no different from any of the other special events and special revelations hosted previously.

Let's just be patient and trust in Jehovah's Organization to provide us all with a good laugh in the days following.

    To answer Wasasister:

I have two relatives going, one of whom I can probably count on getting a good report from: the other, no way. She'll skew it however she wants to.

I have been told though that a member of the GB is supposed to be in each location. Being that the annual meeting is the day before and the GB dudes are so old, that should be interesting to pull off...

Anyway, I don't know which congregations in my area are invited, except the one that my relatives attend, and I can't post that here due to identification factors.

I too am wondering if this is going to be just another pep rally type of thing or if it's going to be big. Maximus said that it's going to be big, and I have yet to see his predictions be wrong.

Wait and see...and getting out my popcorn. That is what I'm planning.

Hey, anyone who is going...any chance someone could smuggle a micro recorder in their purse/suit pocket? That way someone could put a transcript of the meeting up on the net after its over and then we won't have to over-interpret it...we can just read it?

Just a thought. I'd go and do it myself if I could get in!

Question: Do any of you have family members, or friends still in contact with you, who will be invited? Surely somebody knows somebody who knows somebody who....well, you get the idea

yes, someone very near and dear to me..............
    ME!

    So, nytelecom1,

Can you give us the hours that this will take place where you are at least (Nassau Coliseum?)? The date is a Sunday -- is it replacing the usual Sunday meetings?

And what color are the new tickets? (just kidding -- wouldn't want to get you in trouble.)

Hey outnfree, I know the new color of the tickets. I think the choice is highly ironic.

    They're the color of money.

    Don't know what shade though!

our tickets havent been handed out, the only mention of
returning them is that all unused tickets will be
    mailed back to the society.

of interest is that there has been no mention of cancelling the meeting that sunday, but it is likely that it will be cancelled considering that the special meetin fall during our meeting time

the meeting will be from 10-1 i believe.

are there no locations outside the USA? not that all you amero-centrics would notice but this is unusual, seeing as our humble little canadian branch is closer to brooklyn than most of the mainland US. if so, i would assume the program more specifically pertains to the USA somehow.

a funny note on amero-centrism: when the GB member gave his talk at a recent DC (Sydlik i think, forget now) he refered to us as being 'here in the united states.' lol. didnt even notice his gaffe.

this might actually be a sort of 'u.s. branch kinda thing',
but than again i would just be guilty j doing what most people on this board do.......speculate

there will be no provision for meals or refreshments, why would
you need them when Starbucks is across the expressway

Hi Seeker: You summed it up very well when you said,

"Here's my speculation (and that's all it is): This will be a rah-rah type meeting, with information to prepare them for upcoming bad publicity without actually saying anything about what's coming. The usual keep-em-in-the-dark-while-telling-them-what-to-think approach the WTS loves to use."

I have no doubt that this is exactly what any special meeting is about, and that is why they would include any non-baptized people. They want to control as much damage as possible and leave nothing to chance. The Watch Tower will still lose, because they do not get it.

    Amazing
