    Hello All,

Many of you have read Barbara Andersons experiences at Bethel. And if you haven't, Dogpatch recently posted it, and Elsewhere put in PDF format. I encourage you to take the time to read it. It is a expos'e and VERY touching story of her life in Bethel. It makes me wonder how many of you who are posters or just lurkers here have simular stories you have been keeping bottled inside. It would be a tremendous weight, as I am sure you saw from Barbaras own experience, to carry on your own. If you feel up to it, what are your experiences? I am sure many would benefit from hearing your stories. And you may benefit from getting it off your chest. For those who are afraid, or cannot at this time I hope one day you will come forward. Your story needs to be heard!

    SIncerely,

    Lady Liberty

I will some day. For now I must fly under the radar. I have the "goods" on some of the big shots at Bethel and stories that will raise the hair on your heads.

You can download Barbara's story here as a word doc http://www.jwfacts.com/index_files/Anderson.doc

My story is a bit old as it is 10 years since I was at bethel, but for me it was a rapid awakening to the fact that there is no holy spirit guiding bethel, it is just a second rate factory.

I had only been at bethel a couple of months when I was assaulted by a Bethel Elder. One morning i walked past him and greeted him by the nick name that I had heard everyone referring to him by. I was horrified when he grabbed me around the throat, threw me against the wall and said "my name is Br Surname, if you ever call me that again I will kill you".

From there in my three and a half years taught me that there are nice people and not so nice people in Bethel, as in the world. I started to very seriously question why there individuals were any more worthy of salvation than anyone else.

Steve Hassan says that a cult should be judged by the behaviour and impact of the inner circle, not the fringe dwellers. Anyone that claims Jehovah's Witness are not a cult must only have been a fringe dweller. The intensity of the rules, the menial use of free labour, living in a compound, these are all normal within any hardcore cult.

As an example of how menial the rules were, I was constantly in trouble, and in meetings with Bethel overseers, for things such as going to bed too late.

Australian Bethel. Does it look like a prison?

Wow... JW, I think I remember reading this experience of yours before. Still shocked by it. Was this pretty typical of his behavior? Did you consider reporting this to anyone? Did you ever confront him--or did he apologize for it?

Brother Surname? That's like having "password" as a computer password! Where were his ancestors when names were being handed out??
