Gag alert! I hadn't heard that term in a very long time. Eeewwww.

Here's a nice little thread the JW youth have got going on myspace, in case you want to go down memory lane and remember how anti-dating they are. Complete with a comment that "worldly people have cooties" (was that one of you guys?). Things don't seem to have changed much!!

On the same forum, they've got a thread showing pics from WT literature showing how the stone is getting closer to knocking down the statue in Daniel (or whatever it is--I don't remember much Bible stuff.).

That poem was quite the load of BS!!!! Just because you marry a non believer does not mean he will beat you and lose his job.

Oh gag me with a spoon!!! Those poor young JW kids....don't they know, don't they see, or hear about the MANY good Jdub weddings, that turn out just like that poem???? I know of far too many JW marriages that are just like that silly poem describes.

Those people who write those silly little poems have too much time on their hands, and have their heads jammed way too far up their wazzoo's.
I married an unbeliever, he doesn't beat me, he hasn't cheated on me, and we are happily still together after 15 years!!! Sheesh!

Amazing. Here is a quote from that Daniel thread: "This comparison of the illustrations shows where we are in the stream of time and how close we really are to the start of the great tribulation. Our illustrations really do teach us!"
"Maria" really, truly believes that God is inspiring those artists and that they actually convey the literal truth.
I wonder how many other Witnesses take the "spirit-directed" thing that seriously? I know I never did even when I was a True Believer, but others I knew did. I have mentioned this before but I knew a guy who believed that God directed the Society's artists to draw Bible characters the way they actually looked.

I love how the painfully awkward literal translations of Freddie Franz that are in the New World Translation become part of the "theocretese" that every JW speaks...

    "the bloom of youth"

    "taking in knowledge"

"the peace of God that excels all thought" (what on earth does that even mean?!?)

When I was 19, I was going to be interviewed at the district convention and the brother giving the talk wanted me to use the phrase "bloom of youth". Back then I was as hard core as it got, but I refused to say it. I thought it was the stupidest phrase I'd ever heard. Took it all the way to the convention overseer (or was it the DO? don't remember now). My point was no one talks like that in real life.

Anyway, I never said it. Of course I was never given that 'privilege' again. Didn't care then and really don't now.

Many generations of JWs thought the stone was about to hit the feet of the statue and knock it down but they grew old and died and it never happened. What makes these young dubs think they will have a better luck?

Oh gawd. That poem was awful. I knew an elders daughter that used to write crap like that and email it to everyone she knew, including me. **shiver** I think I was the only one who never praised her about her ''glorious writing ability''.

    luv, jojo

The brothers would call, I wouldn't answer the door

I stopped reading the literature, it got to be a bore

You see, marrying out of the Truth, gets one free

Free from Jehovah's love that I once had within me

I don't know guys--this part of the poem seems pretty accurate. ;-)
