Michael Michael who the heck is Michael?

Th JW's teach that Michael was the name of Jesus in his pre-human existance. Then why the heck does the apostle John say that Michael threw Satan out of heaven in 1914??? 1914 was almost 2 thousand years after Jesus pre-human existence!! And John already refers to Jesus as Jesus, Lord, The Lamb of God, why does he also have to call him Michael??

Rev. 12:7-9 states:

"And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. "

You know what I never understood is why JWs here would have had an aversion to a child being named Jesus but not Michael even though they technically are the same thing according to what they teach. I always wondered what it was like in spanish countries.

John knew the difference between Jesus and Michael. He never refers to Jesus as an angel. Moreover, if Satan was cast out of heaven in 1914, why do we find him in the Garden of Eden, tempting Christ in the wilderness and in Peter's day (1 Pet. 5:8) was already a roaring lion seeking to devour believers? And why does Jesus in Luke 10:18 state: "I began to behold Satan already fallen like lightning from heaven?" Jesus was unaware that he had to wait until 1914 to cast Satan out of heaven! Doesn't sound to me like Satan's activity or work is any different today, than it was in the past.

Here is my view on Micheal:

Michael is an Archangel - there are different levels of angelic beings. The archangels being in a higher rank than other angels. Sometimes the term "chief Angel" or "chief prince" is used instead of Arch or Archangel. The term "Arch" literally means "chief one". Chief prince is another term for Archangel. The bible shows there is more than one of these chief or archangels

Nowhere in the Bible does it say Jesus is Michael. To come to this conclusion you have to read into the scriptures. Also no one in the Bible ever applied the name Michael to Jesus.

In the book of Daniel, Michael is called the cheif prince of the Daniels People - which is Isreal. Michael is also called the protector of Israel. Some bible scholars believe that since the Christians are "spiritual Isrealites" that Micheal is their protector too.

The book of Daniel seems to agree with bible scholars by showing that God's people are delivered during the tribulation by Michael. That is why Michael "arises", it is to protect them and deliver them under Christ's command. There is no basis for saying that "arise" means taking rulership. The word arise means to proceed towards.

Would God use an angel in this capacity to deliver his people. Yes, he did so with Lot prior to destroying Sodom and Gemorrah and can use them in this capacity again. Notice what the bible says about angels.

Hebrews 1:14

Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation

It is the book of Daniel that shows that there are more than one Chief or Archangel which proves the WT reasoning that Jesus is superior of all the Angels as the ONLY Archangel is false. Here are the scriptural references for what I am talking about:

Daniel 10:12-14

12 Then he continued, "Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. 13 But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia. 14 Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come."

* The term Prince of the Persian Kingdom represents a demonic angelic person .

Daniel 10:20-22

20 So he said, "Do you know why I have come to you? Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I go, the prince of Greece will come; 21 but first I will tell you what is written in the Book of Truth. (No one supports me against them except Michael, your prince.

Daniel 12:1

[ The End Times ] "At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered. * so here is Michael delivering God's people from the tribulation, just like an angel delivered Lot and his family from Sodom.

* Some will say Jesus is the great prince of Israel but notice the verse above this one that the persian prince who is demonic is also called "prince". none of these verses say this is Jesus. also, Jesus is coming as our king.

This next verse shows that Michael is not the Lord Jesus:

Jude 1:9

But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you

Here is the last verse that shows Michael as an Arch or Chief Angel has angelic forces under him.

Revelation 12:7

And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back

Some say only Jesus can have angels under him but that is not true, according to this verse the dragon (satan) has his angels. Therefore, Michael can have angels under his command. Nowhere does it say Jesus fights with the dragon and his angels it says Micheal. Michael in a high ranking angel under Christ who is the king.

So to recap, Micheal is an Archangel which is a high ranking angel. He is not the only one. He has angels under him. His main purpose is to protect God's people. He is the one who fought Satan and the demons along with other angels under him in Revelation. He is NOT the Lord Jesus.

John doesn't say '1914'. Rather he says this all takes place in the 'lords day'. Which would be when Jesus begins his ride in the great tribulation... I believe his 'presence' is the great tribulation..

This simply means that John received his vision on a Sunday (Revelation 1:10; cf. Didache 14:1).
