Here are a few snapshots(out of 550) of what we encountered while vacationing in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan last week. If you've never been there, it is definitely worth the trip to see - even for us LP Michiganders.

Kayaking in the Seney National Wildlife Refuge

A busy little beaver(s) - there were a bunch of them at work

    Tahquamenon Falls (upper falls)

Pictured Rocks (you take a chartered boat out to see this spot)

Yes, the water is really that color

One of the many, many lighthouses on the coast of Michigan

Town of Copper Harbor viewed from above

    Forget-Me-Nots in a meadow

    Gull tracks on Lake Superior

Typical sunsets on Lake Superior? The water was very calm.

And something I never knew was possible - swans in the UP of Michigan at Seney NWR(always figured them for warmer climates)

    All I can say is......WOW !!!!!!

Beautiful pictures, all of them. What a gorgeous place !!

The wife and I do some canoeing on rivers and lakes in New England, and love it.

Doesn't it make you feel like an Indian, back 250 years ago? Or Lewis and Clark?

    Great pictures. Thanks for sharing.

And no, I'm not going to ask you if you had a good time. I already know you did.

My niece and her husband were just talking about going camping in that area. What towns are close to that area ? Any camping suggestions ?

Absolutely beautiful photos Jourles. Did you know that Michigan is the state that has the most lighthouses? I believe in upwards of 170. I gotta go there one day soon! Thanks for sharing those photos.

    Jourles:

    BEAUTIFUL!!! Your photography is amazing.

My mom grew up in Traverse City, Michigan. She loved it. Well, one year we went there to visit (all over) and my brothers, sister and I made it miserable becuase we wanted to go to Colorado instead. I wish we could take it back and go and see again how beautiful Michigan is and make it nice for her.

Anyway, I am glad you had a good time and thank you for sharing your pictures.
