WALKING THE WATCHTOWER TIGHTROPE

Ever go to a circus and watch the tightrope walkers go from one end of the stretched line to the other balancing precariously along the way?

Sure you have! We all have. It is only compelling to watch because one good slip could plunge the hapless performer to their doom!

The balancing act, then; becomes a question of getting from point A to point B without dying! Life and Death hang on every careful step.

Being a Jehovah's Witness is not unlike being a tightrope walker with life and death in the balance. At least, that is how you are programmed to view your daily life. The plunge toward doom is, of course, Armageddon if you are disfellowshipped. Walking the narrow line is obedience. The analogy is a trope.

The illusion is this: nobody has to climb the tower and become the spectacle in the first place! Why? The religion is just a Circus!!

The most extraordinary characteristic of the religion JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES is that it is a spectacle; it is meant to be viewed by others in an extraordinary way.

J.F.Rutherford, the second president of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society designed it that way.

The doctrines of this religion place its membership in the spotlight by making their beliefs and actions abnormally at odds with society.

    The result? Spectacle!

Any circus performer will tell you the hoopla and ballyhoo is indispensible to capturing the attention of the crowd.

The pitchmen build crowd interest out of nothing just by the excitement and exaggerations they weave into their artful speech:

Step right up ladies and gentlemen...step right up!

Behold the spectacle of spectacles in the center ring!

Death defying deeds you will behold with your very eyes as hapless men, women and children will climb the Watchtower of death to walk the wire to Paradise or plunge through space to the certain death below!

But, that's not all! No siree my friend, no siree! That's just the beginning!

In the bigtop you'll stare in amazement as parents deny lifesaving medical treatments for their innocent children, refuse higher education for their edification and enlightenment and turn their backs on charities for the poor and unfortunate WHILE CLAIMING TO BE CHRISTIAN!

    Yes indeed, yes indeed!

Hurry hurry hurry or you'll miss the the thunderous ovations of the great crowd as Jehovah God lays waste to professing Christianity because they wouldn't deny their Christ and climb aboard the Jehovah wagon.

Behold the awesome bedazzlement of door to door magazine salesmen pitching poorly written books with nonsense articles on imaginary doctrines pretending to be from the throne of God!

Gaze in amazement at the twists and turns of doctrinal mis-steps, flip-flops and back-tracks as the self-appointed Faithful and Discreet slave stumbles over its own history with coverups, denials, rationalizations and false prophecies while tightening its iron grip on the numbed minds of its fellowship!

Don't miss it, don't be late, don't hesitate to pay your money and take your chances to outwit, outplay and outlast the Survivors of this wicked old system of things by refusing to salute the flag of the country that gives you religious freedoms! Con the rubes by telling them the Kingdom Hall is the ark of salvation and the voice of the Creator is the monotone sound coming through the P.A. system as Watchtower zombies highlite their magazines and parrot the conditioned-responses concocted in the laboratories of Brooklyn NY.

If you don't like what you hear, my friend, just hang around and it will change! There's a new doctrine right around the corner.

Time is short. It always has been! Armageddon is in our generation. Just like all the generations before us. Stay busy. Stay alert. Shut up and do as you are told. Ask no questions and put a cork in the leaks.

This Circus of Horrors is brought to you by:

    Poor education

    Superstition

    Gullible fantasies

    Irrational wishful thinking

    Social irresponsibility

and failure to do proper research!

Terry - I get the impression that you are not having second thoughts about leaving the warm embrace of the Watchtower Society!

Good point. I agree that many of their doctrines and practices were adopted simply to be different. For example, they don't call their churches churches. They don't call their hymns hymns. And for many years, they denied that they were a religion. I also think that forbidding Christmas, birthdays, school sports and dances, etc, were done simply to isolate JW youth, making them easier to control.

The blood doctrine was probably the most obvious plea for attention - a belief designed to stand out.

Terry, insightful as always. I thought this one just jumped out at me for being such a simple statement but obviously it isn't comprehended by most members. " Just like all the generations before us." The end is soon, just like for the last 100 or so years! Could it be more clear?

    Can you say: Contrarian?

    wikipedia:

Philosophically, a contrarian is a person who tends to take positions that flout the conventional wisdom. In finance a contrarian takes the view that widespread pessimism tends to lead to market rallies and that widespread optimism tends to lead to market slumps.

Contrarians are sometimes thought of as perma-bears—market participants who are permanently biased to a bear market view. However, the contrarian is not biased specifically towards a negative view of the price trend in a market, but rather takes a contrary position to the prevailing market trend, whether that trend is positive or negative. The generally positive trend in U.S. and world financial markets since World War II has left contrarians holding a net position that has been negative more often than positive for most of the past 60 years.

In Sociology, the term can be understood as an attitude of going against the establishment in terms of the social mores of the time. A social contrarian attempts to show to others, like Plato through Socrates, that there is something inherently wrong with their limited world view.

Terry this is great! I've got another one for you. Since we frequently use the Borg as an analogy for the Watchtower, I present the Brog mantra!

"We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile."

    Translation:

"We are the Watchtower. Open your doors and surrender your pocket books. Your biological and technological distinctiveness will cease to function. Your family will be destroyed to service us. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE."

Think about it. Among the rank and file, are there really any individuals? Or do they operate as one single collective entity, receiving orders in the form of magazines from the central hive, The Watchtower.

Maybe fiction is not so fictious as we thought.

Think about it. Among the rank and file, are there really any individuals? Or do they operate as one single collective entity, receiving orders in the form of magazines from the central hive, The Watchtower.

The individual is short-circuited in Jehovah-dumb.

What is so sad is that JW's seek out individuals who can think to present them with the messege.

The Watchtower messege has a very clever worm wrapped around the hook.

The worm is a series of accurate revelations about the nature of false religious beliefs.

By appealing to the individual's sense of doing what is best to obtain the true facts about the real world the Watchtower rhetoric offers an inside view of how religion works. Traditions replace historical facts and orthodoxies are substituted for actualities. Pompous authority figures demand compliance and don't tolerate independant thinking.

The intelligent individual is shocked and grateful at this accurate inside view and makes the following dubious conclusion (which appears logical)

These people (JW's) have shown me something I would never have know on my own. I better listen to them (and TRUST THEM) on everything else.

This proves to be a mistake.

The LOGICAL conclusion the individual intelligent person should make when confronted with the Watchtower revelations about false relgion is this:

I have been fooled before and I could be fooled again!

"The blood doctrine was probably the most obvious plea for attention"

The blood doctrine, as well as the ban on vaccinations, was introduced because the editor of the Golden Age magazine could not stand the thought of impurities being introduced into a person's body.

Woodworth's idea of perfect health was one where each atom of the body was harmoniously vibrating at the proper frequencies....I am NOT making that up!

So it turned out that a certified crackpot was the person who was responsible for a doctrine that has cost the lives of many, many people over the last 85 years!
