Hey Merry am so sorry to hear your very sad news and sad that you couldn;t have someone there to hold your hand at hearing the news. But we all care. Like serendipity said if you go you are showing your daughter the very best example of forgiveness and real love. I've often wondered how I would react should a similar situation arise with me and am not sure I could be so forgiving.
Am glad for you that will get to spend some precious time with her.

Wow. This is tough. I've been where you are now (less than a year ago). It was one of the most enlightening and at the same time, horrible experiences of my life. I wouldn't have missed it for anything - I just wished it hadn't happened when my mom was still so . . . not young, but definitely not old (59).
I'll be thinking about you, Merry. Don't worry too much about being witnessed to. I imagine they'll be too busy shunning you to do that. In my own case, I was friendly to everyone and if they chose to not respond to my greeting, well, that was on them. It's really hard not to be distracted by the rude behavior of others, but just try to remember that you're there for your mom. I hope your time with her is everything you need it to be.
