I have only been here a few months, but have seen Barbara give personalized assistance several times with not a word on identy protection.

I kind of get the impression that she is hiding from nobody...

The point isn't "what everybody knows"....
The point is should a moderator post a person's ID ...whether "everybody knows it" or not.

Actually, while it is true that it is common knowledge who Barbara Anderson is on this board....

The posting history and story or lack thereof of the poster "oppgirl63" should give pause.

Seriously apostapeeps, until either you, or someone you know in real life, has met and shared a beer (and preferably a bong, just to make sure ;)) with a new poster, just assume that they don't need any information you have.

The nice thing about adopting that attitude is that you can still support people on the board, even newbies, emotionally, without any danger of giving useful info to the WT or people hired by them.

If you were WT legal, or even just a nasty troll, how would you go about getting information? If you're smart, you'd play on peoples' natural desire to be in the thick of things, their natural desire to share information. Resist the urge!

And I'd like to call for the moderators and Simon to take a more proactive role in "keepin' it real" here on the forum. If you feel the need to protect us from naughty words, I think it's not asking too much for protection from frauds and WT wolves. I guess what I'm saying is that I shouldn't be the one saying what I just said, but it needs to be said, and said often.

Nope, I'm not hiding from anybody. I came out of my self-imposed "closet" when I went on Dateline, and, no I'm not gay! That's just too funny for words!

I'm more than delighted that oppgirl63's roommate gave the elders a gift of my story. What a courageous woman! When I was a Witness, I would have been too chicken to do that, that is, until I went to Bethel, when, in time, I discovered my voice. And it was knowledge that made me brave. That's why I wrote my story so courageous people can make informed decisions.
