This whole thing is about getting the inactives, active and giving all the actives a little break so they don't have to deal with the "no, I'm not interested" responses at the door.

These campaigns used to be a relief for those who were not very comfortable talking to people at the door.

Good reasoning Warlock. Would make for a better looking report for f. service activity wouldn't it?

As evidence that the pouring out of these plagues continues, the talk "False Religion’s End Is Near" was delivered worldwide on April 23, 1995, followed by the distribution of hundreds of millions of copies of a special issue of Kingdom News.

    Distribution of Kingdom News

One of the outstanding aspects of the witness given during 1995 involved distribution of the tract Kingdom News No. 34. Anticipation had been built up for months in advance. Then on Sunday, April 23, after the public talk "False Religion’s End Is Near," the Kingdom News was released, and simultaneous distribution in 111 languages began. It was distributed in another 25 languages later in the year. In many lands, new peaks in publishers and hours were reached during the time set aside for its distribution.

Yep, it sounds like a rehash of old material is all. And it probably is correct to assume that these "events" are for getting the irregulars and inactives out in service. Just imagine the pop they would get in their count if both groups took part in this campaign. Their numbers would look damn good. Afterall, that's what it's all about anyway. Just as shareholders in a company want to see good "numbers" coming from their investment, the WTS wants to show its shareholders adherents that it has good numbers as well. Because if a company starts to show any signs of weakness, its shareholders sell off and bail. They probably figure that the same scenario would happen with the r&f. If the WTS appears to be showing signs of weakness, some of the r&f might bail thinking that jah isn't supporting the work anymore.

For anyone that wants to follow the WTS closely, the first thing you have to do is look at them as any other corporate structure. Once you watch them with those glasses on, every path they carve out makes total sense.

It stands to reason that it serves the WT's interests to keep their R&F in a heightened state of expectation.

Kingdom News distributions gets the whole congregation involved in the project of distributing them in the way in which the WT says.

Elders are told how to administer the task and generally you see congregations just about exhausted from the effort. Yet, for what?

The official title of the tract is "False Religion's End is Near!"

It was the end of False Religion for me in 2004.

Wasn't there another Kingdom News (35) in 1996, "Will All People Ever Love One Another?"

And Kingdom News (36) was on the Millenium.

We used to note our tract placements on time slips years ago. I can't remember the last time I was involved in a campaign.

Kingdom News No. 36 manipulated the public fear about the end of the year 2000.

Of course, the WTS was not saying the end was coming in 2000, but it could....

simple presentation is all that is needed. You might say:

    · "I have volunteered my time to help distribute this very important message to every family in [name of city or county]. This is your copy. Please read it." It may be advantageous not to carry a witnessing case when distributing Kingdom News No. 36.

Congregations should endeavor to cover their territory before the campaign ends on November 17 (before December 31, 2000)

I'm sure I won't see any of these tracts in my area. Most JWs will probably just throw them out. The last few days I've noticed a lot of JWs doing "street work". Without exception, all were hiding the titles of the magazines they were carrying. Most had the magazines folded or rolled up so you couldn't see the title. Today I saw one woman who was standing and holding the magazines up for people to see - but was showing only the back covers. I've never seen such a thing. Are more JWs becoming ashamed of what they are and making an effort to keep a low profile?

If there is any special campaign here it will only be noticible in the donut shops.
