these are ironic lyrics for me to like, but it's my new favorite song off of welcome to jamrock. the whole album is peppered with nice base lines and beats. good for releasing stress if you're dumping da troof.

    Road to Zion ft. NAS

    yah man.
    (hook)
Jah will be waitin there be a shout,
    Jah will be waitin there!

    In this world of calamity,
Dirty looks and grudges and jealousy,
And police weh abuse dem authority,
Media clowns when nuh know bout variety
    BOOM!

De youngest veteran a go murder dem slow
Ragga muffin sent to call me from da bush Bungalow
Watch mek me clear out mi voice now Figarow
Emerg from the darkness wit mi big blunt a glow
Mi hammer dem a slam n a spectator get low
Some bwoy could a big like Bam Bam Bigalow
Buss off trigger finger trigger hand and trigger toe
A two gun mi have mi buss dem inna stereo
    cause

    (chorus)

I got to keep on walkin on the road to Zion, man

Jah will be waitin there we a shout,

    (x2)

(Yeah, been waitin to do this track with you man, yeah, ha ha, yeah yeah)
You know (They know) you got to keep on walkin (Yeah) on the road to Zion, man
(You gotta keep walkin y'all, yeah, yeah, you gotta keep...)

Sometimes I can't help but feel helpless
I'm havin daymares in daytime wide awake try to relate
This can't be happenin like I'm in a dream while I'm walkin
Cause what I'm seein is hauntin, human beings like ghost and zombies
President Mugabi holdin guns to innocent bodies
In Zimbabwe, they make John Pope seem Godly, sacrilegious and blasphemous
In my lifetime I look back in paths I walked, where savages fought and passengers taught
Prostitutes stomp in high heel boots
And badges screamin at young black children stop or I will shoot
I look back at cooked crack plus cars that pass by
Jaguars mad fly, and I'm guilty for materialism
Blacks is still up in the prison trust that
So save me your sorries I'm raisin a Army
    Revolutionary warfare with Damian Marley
Wi sparkin the ions Marchin to zion
You know how Nas be NYC state of mind I'm in

    In this world of calamity,
Dirty looks and grudges and jealousy,
And police weh abuse dem authority,
Media clowns when nuh know bout variety

Single parents weh need some charity
Yutes weh need some love and prosperity
Instead of broken dreams and tragedy
By any plan with any means and strategy,
    say,

I got to keep on walkin on the road to Zion, man
Wi gots to keeps it burnin on the road to Zion, man

Clean and pure meditation without a doubt
Don let dem take you like who dem took out
Jah will be waitin there we a shout,
    Jah will be waitin there!

    In this world of calamity,

Single parents weh need some charity
Yutes weh need some love and prosperity
Instead of broken dreams and tragedy
By any plan with any means and strategy
Insted of broken dreams and tragedy
Yutes weh need some love and prosperity
Insted of broken dreams and tragedy
By any plan n any means n any strategy
    Ay, Say
I got to kepp on walking on the road to Zion, man

This was many years before I finally got out.......but back in the 1980's I loved Bob Seeger and the Silver Bullet Band.

These verses kept playing over and over in my mind from his song "Runnin Against The Wind" and that was.............................

"surrounded by strangers I thought were my friends" and "Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then."

Against the wind. I'm still runnin' against the wind.

I'm older now but still runnin' against the wind.

The rest of the song had nothing to do with my state of mind, but these verses were like a hammer in my head because I was so unhappy as a JW.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then there was Phil Collins........."I Don't Care Any More" This one said most of it for me.

    Phil Collins
    I Don't Care Anymore

Well you can tell ev'ryone I'm a down disgrace

Drag my name all over the place.

    I don't care anymore.

You can tell ev'rybody 'bout the state I'm in

You won't catch me crying 'cos I just can't win.

    I don't care anymore I don't care anymore

I don't care what you say

I don't play the same games you play.

'Cos I've been talking to the people that you call your friends

And it seems to me there's a means to and end.

    They don't care anymore.

And as for me I can sit here and bide my time

I got nothing to lose if I speak my mind.

    I don't care anymore I don't care no more

I don't care what you say

We never played by the same rules anyway.

    I won't be there anymore

    Get out of my way

    Let me by

I got better things to do with my time

    I don't care anymore I don't care anymore

    I don't care anymore I don't care anymore

Well, I don't care now what you say

'Cos ev'ry day I'm feeling fine with myself

And I don't care now what you say

Hey I'll do alright by myself

    'Cos I know.

'Cos I remember all the times I tried so hard

And you laughed in my face 'cos you held all the cards.

    I don't care anymore.

And I really ain't bothered what you think of me

'Cos all I want of you is just a let me be.

    I don't care anymore D'you hear? I don't care no more

I don't care what you say

I never did believe you much anyway.

I won't be there no more

So get out of my way.

    Let me by

I got better things to do with my time

    I don't care anymore

    D'you hear? I don't care anymore

    I don't care no more

You listening? I don't care no more

    No more!

You know I don't care no more!

    Linkin Park - Numb

i'm tired of being what you want me to be
    feeling so faithless
    lost under the surface
i don't know what you're expecting of me
    put under the pressure
    of walking in your shoes
[caught in the undertow / just caught in the undertow]
every step that i take is another mistake to you

    i've
    become so numb
    i can't feel you there
    become so tired
    so much more aware
    i'm becoming this
    all i want to do
    is be more like me
    and be less like you

can't you see that you're smothering me
    holding too tightly
    afraid to lose control
cause everything that you thought i would be
has fallen apart right in front of you

[caught in the undertow / just caught in the undertow]
every step that i take is another mistake to you
[caught in the undertow / just caught in the undertow]
and every second i waste is more than i can take

    but i know
i may end up failing too
    but i know
    you were just like me
    with someone disappointed in you

"Let Your Soul Be Your Pilot" -Sting

When you're down and they're counting
When your secrets all found out
When your troubles take to mounting
When the map you have leads you to doubt
    When there's no information
And the compass turns to nowhere that you know well
Let your soul be your pilot
    Let your soul guide you
    He'll guide you well

When the doctors failed to heal you
When no medicine chest can make you well
When no counsel leads to comfort
When there are no more lies they can tellNo more useless information
    And the compass spins
The compass spins between heaven and hell
Let your soul be your pilot
    Let your soul guide you
    He'll guide you well

And your eyes turn towards the window pane
To the lights upon the hill
The distance seems so strange to you now
And the dark room seems so still

Let your pain be my sorrow
Let your tears be my tears too
Let your courage be my model
That the north you find will be true
When there's no more useless information
And the compass turns to nowhere that you know well
Let your soul be your pilot
    Let your soul guide you
    Let your soul guide you
Let your soul guide you upon your way

OMG, and I played this one over and over too...

    "It's All Understood" -Jack Johnson

    Everyone laughed at her joke
As if they'd never even heard it before
And maybe they were truly amused
But every word that she spoke was a bore
And maybe it's because they had seen
The previews on the TV screen
Well this part is good and that's well understood
So you should laugh if you know what I mean

    But it's all relative
    Even if you don't understand
    Well it's all understood
    Especially when you don't understand
    Then it's all just because
    Even if we don't understand
    Then lets all just believe

    Everyone knows what went down
Because the news was spread all over town
And fact is only what you believe
And fact and fiction work as a team
It's almost always fiction in the end
    That content begins to bend
When context is never the same

    And it's all relative
    Even if we don't understand
    And that's well understood
    Especially when we don't understand
    Then it's all just because
    Even if we don't understand
    Then lets all just believe

    I was reading a book
Or maybe it was a magazine
Suggestions on where to place faith
    Suggestions on what to believe
    But I read somewhere
    That you've got to beware
You can't believe anything you read
But the good Book is good
    And that's well understood
    So don't even question
If you know what I mean
    But it's all relative
    Even if you don't understand
    Well it's all understood
    Especially when you don't understand
    And it's all just because
    Even if we don't understand
    Then lets all just believe

But there you go once again
You missed the point and then you point
    Your fingers at me
And say that I said not to believe
    I believe
    I guess
    I guess it's all relative

I think Crazy by Gnarls Barkley totally sums up the feeling of leaving and why. It sounds like an apostate speaking to a JW friend.

    Gnarls Barkley - Crazy

I remember when, I remember, I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that phase.
Even your emotions have an echo
    in so much space

    And when you're out there
    Without care,
Yeah, I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
    I just knew too much
Does that make me crazy Does that make me crazy
    Does that make me crazy
    PROBABLY

And I hope that you are having the time of your life
    But think twice
    That's my only advice
Come on now, who do you, who do you, who do you, who do you think you are
Ha ha ha bless your soul
You really think you're in control

    Well, I think you're crazy
    I think you're crazy
    I think you're crazy
    Just like me

My heroes had the heart to lose their lives out on a limb And all I remember Is thinking, I want to be like them

Ever since I was little, ever since I was little oh it looked like fun
And it's no coincidence I've come
And I can die when I'm done
    But maybe I'm crazy
    Maybe you're crazy
    Maybe we're crazy
    Probably

"Nobody's gonna break my stride... nobody's gonna slow me down, oh no, I've got to keep a-moving"

I don't remember the rest of the song or who does it... but that has helped get me through a lot of stuff.

    Lateralus

Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me.
    lets me see.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn beyond the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition, missing opportunities and I must
Feed my will to feel my moment drawing way outside the lines.

Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me.
lets me see there is so much more
and beckons me to look through to these infinite possibilities.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn outside the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition leaving all these opportunities behind.

Feed my will to feel this moment urging me to cross the line.
Reaching out to embrace the random.
Reaching out to embrace whatever may come.

    I embrace my desire to
feel the rhythm, to feel connected
enough to step aside and weep like a widow
to feel inspired, to fathom the power,
to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain,
    to swing on the spiral
of our divinity and still be a human.

With my feet upon the ground I lose myself
between the sounds and open wide to suck it in,
I feel it move across my skin.
I'm reaching up and reaching out,
I'm reaching for the random or what ever will bewilder me.
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.

    Spiral out.

I can't find the song lyrics or title to the song, but the main one that helped is the one that went:

"This is it. Make no mistake where you are......the waiting is over."

It kinda seemed like I was having my own personal "arm-a-gettin' " and to top it all off, the theme from "Beverly Hills Cop" sounded to me like a very jazzy shepherd calling me out of the borganization at the time.
