I was just wondering if you had met someone online and had a significant long term relationship with him... would you be brave enough to meet him? Obviously not alone at first but how would you check someone out before you met them other than a google search of his name.

Even some place like JWD where there is a significant level of trust . Hhhmmm, you just never know, do you?

It all sounds a bit scarey to me.

    How would you handle it?

I don't know why I"m laughing at that idea, but I am. First, I'd have to have a copy of his driver's license, bank records, tax records, fingerprints, 5 references from previous girlfriends, blood and DNA samples.

    Yea, that about covers it!!

On here I would guess that if others had met them and had good things to say then I would be okay with that? I don't know about, say a dating site. How ould you check them out really?

Got someone in mind do you? ;-)

Well I did sort of. I got on clasmates.com and found a boy who was a very close friend in high school and we had shared a first time ever dance with the opposite sex in Jr. High. We were close friends for 6 years through JR high and high school. 30 years later we found each other again and renewed our friendship. Both of us left bad marriages and are very happily, blissfully, thankfully married to each other now for 3 1/2 years. The renewal of the relationship though happen on the internet. We met and talked and realized we still loved each other after all these years apart.

    Just one happy ending.

    Ah dams thank you

I guess that it is the maternal hormones or something like that. I just want to be certain that you all are safe.

I personally never seem to venture far from home so I am safe!

I met a man from a dating site once. Before meeting him, I googled his name and his email address. Once I had his phone number and address, I googled that too. Based on the few things I found, I started asking him questions, without letting him know what was prompting them. His story confirmed the online info. I also ran a background check, using an Internet site. (I google'd 'background check' and located the most credible site.)

I felt somewhat comfortable meeting him (in a public place, of course) after doing all that. Things didn't work out - but maybe that's a happy ending for the both of us.
