Ok one of the things that my husband kept asking as I was trying desperately to do my fade thing was....
"What happened to freedom of religion?"
Indeed when he told his coworkers what was going on with me they would ask...
"What ever happened to freedom of religion?"
The truth is, when you become a Jehovah's Witness, you give up your right to freedom of religion. The freedom that they tell you you have is conditional.
If you choose to exercise this so called freedom and choose another way of life, you are punished.
What is the difference between that and living in another country where freedom is only a word and not something to be truly experienced? Where the choice to break out of the norm is met with punishment?
To me, there is no difference.
This is the first fourth of July that I as an American citizen am choosing to celebrate. Our country might not be perfect, I might not agree with everything that goes down, but damn it, at least I can express myself and say what I am thinking. The jw's took away much, but not everything.
Some here are still "in" because if they don't they will be punished. But to them I say this, you are really strong individuals and you have something that other active jdubs don't,
mental freedom. And they can't take that away from you now. It's yours.
Happy Fourth guys!
