    • Is Jesus the "mediator" only for anointed Christians?

The term "mediator" occurs just six times in the Christian Greek Scriptures and Scripturally is always used regarding a formal covenant.

Moses was the "mediator" of the Law covenant made between God and the nation of Israel. (Gal. 3:19, 20) Christ, though, is the "mediator of a new covenant" between Jehovah and spiritual Israel, the "Israel of God" that will serve as kings and priests in heaven with Jesus. (Heb. 8:6; 9:15; 12:24; Gal. 6:16) At a time when God was selecting those to be taken into that new covenant, the apostle Paul wrote that Christ was the "one mediator between God and men." (1 Tim. 2:5) Reasonably Paul was here using the word "mediator" in the same way he did the other five times, which occurred before the writing of 1 Timothy 2:5, referring to those then being taken into the new covenant for which Christ is "mediator." So in this strict Biblical sense Jesus is the "mediator" only for anointed Christians.

They don't just read the material at the church tho . These people are even conditioned to study it before hand with only using WTBTS approved sources to support what's written . I don't have a problem with a peaceful setting and don't much care for people that use the yelling technique as seen on TV even . True some of the apostles were called sons of thunder so yelling or being loud is probly not forbidden as the WTBTS has it . They clearly are coecerced into some beliefs . People that are afraid of rejection will be most prominant in the cult . interesting stuff tho ....

You know, I actually remember that. I guess I was just confused back then since we prayed through Christ to Jehovah, eg. he mediated our prayers.

Question for ex elders: Were you told to sit to the left of all your bible studies?

No, never and indication to which side of an interested one we should sit. Although I always feel a bit sleepy at meetings, I'm sure this is just because it is teriible boring, but hypnosis no. (I'm sure) mind-control, in a certain sense, yes. DB

Personally, I think the 'hypnosis' theory is a little 'out there' for me to swallow.

But perhaps some of the elements mentioned have set the stage for a greater and deeper mind control. Certainly the Watchtower study is the main tool used to keep the indoctrination of dubs intact and active. But [for example] I never really noticed witnesses following with thier eyes the Watchtower conductor and the reader in the manner that a hypnotist would employ. Plus there is such a long period of time between when the conductor is focused on and then the reader would be focused on - nothing close to the rythmic timing of a hypnotist pendulum in front of the eyes.

All the elements mentioned [ the songs, the prayers, the meeting format ] do IMHO, create the perfect environs for mind control - I just can't buy the hypnosis idea.

Have you ever been under hypnosis? Thats just what they do! And that is how they control the mind to begin with. I dont know either, but its an interesting thought!

Most people are under hypnosis, but they don't know it.

    I like this

"this natural urge to reason and conclude, has been completely removed from their minds, because they have been hyptonized not to think for themselves so that they become robot servants for the Watchtower organisation"

Well that's undeniable, but I don't think it comes about from hypnotism. I think anyone who actually knows something professionally about hypnotism would laugh at that article. Even that guy from the county fair (you know that guy) would laugh at that article.
