I'll admit there's this one avatar with a large-headed baby in a blue box that I always find adorable.

Maybe my old avatars have been subtley making people less confrontational with me. I need to have my faulty reasoning or mistakes pointed out for me to grow.

I'm going to see what happens with my new avatar.

I think avatars and nicknames do reflect some aspects of the person. They are chosen the same way we do our clothing, our friends, our manner of speech. They are hints as to our attitudes and personality.
I try to look at the avatar as a possible clue as to where that poster is coming from, never as a summary of the whole character. The character is revealed by what the posters says.

My avatar is usually me, and the memories I make.

It reflects my fun, care free personality.(some pics can be in a drunken state, but that besides the point.....)

I believe you!! My parrot says, "Come 'ere and give me a little kiss" complete with lip-smacking sounds. The trouble is, if I then try to give him a kiss, he tries to bite my lip off. On the whole, your bird sounds less scary.

Very true, candidly. I've been a bird freak all my life. I love them all--screeching parrots, endearingly goofy ostriches, grabby seagulls, squeaky starlings, even vultures. They're all fascinating.

Well, in an effort to be less forgettable, I've added an avatar. I too remember people by their avatar.

Sure, the initial impression is formed by avatar, but words quickly gain ascendancy of the mental image in my head.
