    Say something that JW's preach that you still believe in.

    "Hell" = "mankind's common grave"

    Wait a minute, that's not quite right; I've come around to a belief in an afterlife...

    "Hell is not hot!"

    That's it, actually; I've ditched almost everything else but the Golden Rule.

    Do not put your trust in nobles, nor in the son of earthling man (and that includes the Governing Body!) to whom no salvation belongs. His spirit goes out, he goes back to the dust, and in that day his thoughts do perish.

    More than I'd like unfortunately. It's why I post so much here. Making a strong attempt to break 30 years' worth of indoctrination. Rationally I realize it's bunk, but on a lower level I still get upset emotionally when I act in ways contrary to my previous beliefs.

    What JWs preach holds no interest for me whatsoever, too many bad experiences with that messed up org. There are however, some useful guidelines in the bible. JWs have 'lost the plot'!

    I am sure I've held to at least some of the doctrines/teachings deep down inside, but right now I cannot think of any. I suppose that all holidays are pagan, but I see that as nothing but positive. That Christianity has a lot of pagan influences (again, I do not see this as a negative).

    I hold a lot of the "cultural" aspects of being raised as a JW. I was actually discussing this with a friend the other evening. It was not all negative. I learned to be a good, traditional wife (although that hasn't quite worked out so well for me) but I can honestly say, I was respectful, dutiful, and hardly ever questioned his "authority". Then again, maybe this was not a positive, I don't know.

    Rambling,

    ~Brigid
