Nic - practice makes perfect. I found if you picture things in you mind first, it helps. I have to admit I don't get to dive as much as I like, but it is a wonderful experience. My biggest issue was my buoyancy, even if you think you are weighted properly often times you are not. If my buoyancy was not right then the fin pivot was harder. I am sure it will be fine. Good luck!

But I have "cards" for: Basic Diver, Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, Nitrox, Navigation, Deep Diver, and Wreck Diver.

They don't give you cards anymore... Where's the fun in that!

As to the 20 dives it started at 150 then went to 100 then went to 50 then 20... Sad isn't it! It's like going to the watchtower university! You still need advanced open water 5 specialties and rescue (at least last I checked) so that's better than 20 dives RIGHT THERE! Also if you pick up some of the challenging specialites like cavern or cave those can be 5 or 6 dives per class!

Also I got a thing from padi the other day that says you can get college credits for some of the dive classes now!

My test dives were in 1m visibility and very cold. I had to stop myself panicking by focusing on the things we could see, which by the end of the dive wasn't much. I put my hand right in front of my face and stared at that for ten seconds when I got jumpy. In reality it took ten or twenty dives before I felt comfortable underwater. Just rely on your training and make sure you can trust your gear. I test all my regs out a few times before each dive just by doing a quick purge.

    I passed!

I feel a bit shagged right now but I really enjoyed it. Vis' was around 3mtrs and water temp was not too bad. There were just three of us taking our dives with as many instructors so it was a nice tight group.

    I'd reccommend a try-dive to anyone - it's a whole other world down there.

    Nic'

    btw - did I say, "I passed"!?
