Rub some BEETS - yes, whole BEETS - in a mixture of olive oil, salt and pepper. Throw 'em on the grill, stark naked, at medium temperature for about half an hour. Turn them after 15 minutes or so. When they're fork tender, they're done.
You can also marinate whole mushrooms in Italian dressing overnight and throw those on the grill. They take about 15-20 minutes, if I remember right.
For dessert, whole bananas roasted in their skins. Serve with pecan halves and sour (or whipped) cream.
