I have come to this board for ever a year now. One very openly obvious thing, that you notice within a couple of months. Is that subjects repeat here, often. Meaning, if someone ask the question, "Was there anything you did like about be a Witness" or "Did you ever see this happen in a Kingdom Hall." You are never going to be the first one to ask it on this board. I don't mean this to insult, but rather to show just how active I have noticed this board is. Has anyone here ever thought of taking the key common thread ideas that repeat often, and just save your responses to cut and paste and add later when it comes up again? A lot of boards have this happen, just this one is so active that it seems more obvious. I hate that we can all be so predictable sometimes, but I guess when you all come from a common background, there is only so much we can bring up. I wonder if this is why you sometimes see people leave, maybe they feel that they have seen it, done it and learned all they could about this subject and find a need to just move on. Do you think that might be possible? Just a thought.
All JW thoughts, ideas, and subject have been covered her several times

I haven't been here that long, but it's true that many subjects are covered repeatedly. I do however find it interesting to here the experiences from newbies, even though the question
may be a repeat. And ofcourse we all enjoy the news that occurs from time to time. lawsuits, doctrine changes, campaigns, etc. etc.

I find I mainly read the news ones too. As it helps me to see what is happening behind the scenes, in a world I care to never visit again. However, and I want to stress that I am not trying to insult, this place is so active that there are tons of repeat comments and questions. What got me thinking about this, was I was reading a thread and looking for a response I did to respond to something said with a quote. I then realized, that although the thread was one I thought I responded in, it was actually a new thread that was just the same subject and what appeared to be the same thoughts repeated. It happens!

That's because new people come all the time who are not aware that certain subjects had been recently covered, I suppose that will be useful for other newcomers who have something to say about these redone topics.

I think also one of the reasons for a forum like this one is that its a safe haven for those who need to get advice, but also who need to ‘hear' their own words. It helps when trying to sort things out, and if they didn't have those of us here who have heard it all before, then they would be at a loss. I have been out of the WBTS for going on thirty years now, and sometimes I wonder why I make my rounds over here when cruising the Net. I think for me its all about connection. Having being a JW is not quite like any other experience most people have ever had and only another former JW can completely and readily relate to my experience and visa versa. It creates an instant bond regardless of spiritual or political views. I may think you’re nuts to believe this or that way about whatever, but with the JW thing, we got that down. It’s kinda like a family that way, and I guess that’s what keeps me posting and interacting here on the forums. Just my thoughts on the matter.

BTW, nice idea for a thread!

free2beme,
I seem to recall several previous threads on this very topic!
Unsure whether this adds or detracts from the impact of your observation.

Yeah but you know what that means? That there's a cycle - we start off terrified to be here, then a few things hit really close to home, then it all does, and then one day we don't need it any more because we can get on with life. It's extraordinary how similar all our stories are, but then... not really, because we were all trained to be the same, right?
I've got a lot of JW stuff to purge from my system but I know that it will be gone one day. In the meantime it's good to be here and realising that so many other people have been through the same thing and not just survived, but thrived...

That is true - but not all of us are on here 24 hours and the majority of threads (them without nudity in the title) tend to die off within a day or two so therefore some people miss threads.
Then there are newbies - coming along asking the same questions we first asked.
I think it would be a bit mean to save my answers top be repeated everytime I saw a similar thread - although I can see the value of some of our awesome researchers like Blondie and Lady Lee saving key replies - its just quicker. My responses have changed a bit along with my perspective since I joined here so I try and keep them fresh, lively, spontaneous and interesting even if replying to a similar thread as previously.

We are a mob.
We are unruly, sullen and vociferous.
We are irreverent and restless.
Ours is the face of pain and fierce determination let loose against a zookeeper who fed us tripe and tethered our souls to emptiness.
We rage and lapse into bursts of ecstacy at our new won freedoms!
A thorn has lodged in our consciousness piercing our very dreams only to return night after night to whisper; "Why?"
We wrestle with "why?" after "why?"in the uncolored hours of quiet self-recrimination.
Sometimes we come to this sanitarium to scream out our pains and jab our finger into the void with angry accusations.
The answer will never come, but, we ask again and again......."why?"
Why did we barter our consciences and our youth for a dream and a lie?
We are the fool of fools on the one hand and the freest of free on the other.
We are soft wings of flight and talons of purest fury launched against the ghost of a Jehovah which is but a mere trick of clouds and filtered light.

It's sort of like reading a book or watching a movie and discovering things you didn't realize the first time around.
I know for myself there are somethings that might not interest me the first time I see it. But later on I might be dealing with a particular issue and seeing it come up again I find I get a lot more out of it.
