comments from our dear sister in the Fort Worth, TX area.
They are most encouraging.

"I went to the Sunday session of the convention this week and it was so
encouraging. Brother Lett was one of the speakers and his enthusiasm was
great. He made a comment I was really taken with. He was talking about the
Faithful and Discreet Slave and all they do for us...like the convention
information. He said, "You have never received a letter from the Slave that
said, "Dear Brother, We will not be having a District Convention this year
because we don't have anything to say". So we will have a three day
District Convention next year....maybe it will be in the New System but we
will have a three day District Convention". Everyone really applauded that
statement. Of course it isn't that we are serving for a date but sometimes
we just get so tired. Anyway it really energized everyone there. I am
looking forward to going for the Friday session this week. I had to work
last week Friday so I am so grateful we have three conventions we can go to.
Of course if we had only one there would have been no question...I wouldn't
have worked.
They gave a wonderful experience of the invitation work. It came out of
Arkansas I think. A young sister, 12 years old, left an invitation with a
man named Kevin. He was really interested and said he would be coming on
Saturday and Sunday but that he had to work on Friday. Then he asked what
the Witnesses did so they could come on Friday. The young sister said that
they asked their boss for the day off and if he didn't grant it, they would
quit. Well, she went back a week later to see if he was still coming and if
she should save a seat for him. He said yes he was coming and would be
there on Friday as well. He had asked his boss for the day off and told him
if he didn't get it he would quit. The boss said he was too valuable an
employee to lose and gave him Friday off and Thursday as well to get ready
for the convention. When she asked if she could save him a seat he said
well he had some family members and friends that wanted to come too and thee
would be about 30 of them. The young sister said she didn't think she could
save that many seats and he said not to worry they would find some on their
own....and they did. All 30 attended and in the final talk the brother told
the experience and invited the friends to welcome these interested
ones...which they did enthusiastically. It will be interesting to hear any
follow up experiences. But it was encouraging to hear that these things can
happen here in the US. Sometimes it feels like we are out of sheep." CW
