I think we have also polluted more than the privious hundred centuries and we are in danger of not having enough fresh water for all people. Sure advancement in science and technology has helped the situation and hopefully can clean up the mess made by reckless people .
don't any of you get afraid??

The news media and the watchtower have something in common. They both rely on fear to get people hooked and keep them from changing the channel or throwing that
ragmag in the garbage.Yes, the world is coming to an end for all of us one day. It's called death. We could meet our end by means of a terrorist bomb, and earthquake, a flood, or via the next virus mutation. I'm hoping for a massive brain hemmorage in my sleep when I'm 90 (quick and relatively painless). The point is we are all going to die sooner or later and we don't know where or when. The two things in this world most likely to cause premature death are car accidents and smoking. (too lazy to look up medical reference). Do we go around in constant fear of those things? No, we happily get in our cars every day and zoom around with barely a care. Yet, we agonize over the remote chance one of these other less preferable deaths should come our way prematurely. The only certainty we have is that one of those things we fear will kill us one day, but only one of them and only once. Why waste what time we have to live worrying over how we are going to die?

Why waste what time we have to live worrying over how we are going to die?
Because the fear from the WTBTS is that if you die during Gods day of wrath that you will not see the resurrection . They also offer believers a hope of eternal life , something the news media doesn't do . I agree tho the news media is about sensationalism . I think the government even uses it to their advantage , they love for you to be afraid and depend on them so they get more control .

15 “But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked;
You grew fat, you grew thick,
You are obese!
Then he forsook God who made him,
And scornfully esteemed the Rock of his salvation.16 They provoked Him to jealousy with foreign gods;
With abominations they provoked Him to anger.17 They sacrificed to demons, not to God,
To gods they did not know,
To new gods, new arrivals
That your fathers did not fear.18 Of the Rock who begot you, you are unmindful,
And have forgotten the God who fathered you.19 “And when the LORD saw it, He spurned them,
Because of the provocation of His sons and His daughters.20 And He said: ‘I will hide My face from them,
I will see what their end will be,
For they are a perverse generation,
Children in whom is no faith.21 They have provoked Me to jealousy by what is not God;
They have moved Me to anger by their foolish idols.
But I will provoke them to jealousy by those who are not a nation;
I will move them to anger by a foolish nation.22 For a fire is kindled in My anger,
And shall burn to the lowest hell;
It shall consume the earth with her increase,
And set on fire the foundations of the mountains. (Deuteronomy 32:15-22) -

Trevor:
I have just returned from a walking holiday in Wales UK. The beautiful old village of Crickhowell is surrounded by green hills and mountains which lead down to the river Usk. To me heaven is a place on earth.
Completely off topic here, but I went to school there!

if media information gets to be overwhelming, turn it off for a while,
if you think you might feel better contributing as opposed to just fretting, limit yourself to one or two pet issues/concerns you can take real action on. :) -

I just got through reading Elswhere's thread
What did the Watchtower Soceity REALLY say about 1975?
Now, I was fearful the first time that I read that article - but come on - 38 years ago?? I an no longer fooled by the alarmists and those wanting to exploit a bad thing by writing fearsome books. The world spins on. It has done for millenia, and will spin on long after we are gone . Don't waste your precious time of life by worrying..One thing that man is not good at is foretelling the future

Blues Brother, I agree with your feeling.
I'm not saying we won't destroy ourselves, nor am I saying we haven't thoroughly polluted this planet. We have and we can.
But I refuse to buy into the fear. To quote Dumbledore "Dark and difficult times lie ahead of us" but that doesn't mean we are at an end.
I truly believe life finds a way. In the meantime, I'll live my to the best of my ability and those things I have no control over, I'll let go.
