    Hi all.

I decided to skip the convention for the first time this year. I have been telling everyone in my congregation that I went but just didn't see them there. A few nosey individuals are getting suspicious and they are trying to find out if I really went or not. They're starting to get under my skin and piss me off.

Can someone tell me what the new releases were this year so I can have something to say to them?

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

Can't help you with the info you're looking for, but I used to know JWs who would plan to take their vacations in different cities from their assigned convention city, and claim to have attended there. Then attending the local convention was "optional".

Now that I think of it, it's a fantastic way to get out of attending all together. They have no way of proving that you didn't go to another convention, and if they start asking too many questions, you get to put them in their place.

Actually... why don't you put them in their place? Say something like "Excuse me, who are you, my mother?" or "Last time I checked, I was an adult and didn't need anyone checking up on me, thanks!" or "Don't you think it's rude to imply that I'm lying? I sure do." Then walk away.

You don't owe them any explanations. They didn't see you there? That's their problem, and you don't need to take ownership of their problem.

Thanks Genesis, I appreciate it. Was that it or was there anything else? A brochure?

    Nope, just the book.
Scully, I've always had this desire to say that whenever Sister Nosey or Brother Inquisitive comes up and tries to grill me on something. I totally want to. But I can't...because I've yet to undue the conditioning of having to respond to any question in a forthright manner.
Unbrainwashed, I think it depends on the size of your convention if you can pull off the "I didn't see you" bit. Mine was about 14,000 people all three days. There were people I just plain did not see. If yours is smaller, like 5 or 6 thousand, it might be harder to pull off.

Official title of new release: "Live with Jehovah's Day in Mind"

Drama: Was about King Jeroboam in Israel, theme was "quit being a slacker and attend all the meetings, obey Jehovah or he will kill you with a lion"

Talks: "Don't be "overly obsessed" with your own health, avoid the internet and pornography, Armageddon is coming soon soon soon.

If you want bonus points: say something like "Didn't you just love that talk about the sea on Friday? Oh, and the symposium on Jesus' illustrations...how encouraging!"

That should be enough to pass muster. This is the entirety of what 99% of JWs remember on the Monday after the convention.

    Thanks everyone!

    I'm kinda confused though.

Do I have this right? 2 books were released?

"Live with Jehovah's day in mind" and "Deliverance at hand"?

    Or is it just 1?
