You've got it all wrong, LT. j2s believes that the more one posts, the less deserving they are to express their opinion.

It's really a shame we can't all live up to your high standards. With such exacting standards as yours, maybe you should start your own religion and find converts who always say and do exactly what you think they should. Oh wait, that religion already exists -- JWs.

I've often thought that, too. I know posters here are not necessarily a representative sample of exJWs at large, but it seems that most here either become BA or "private" Christians (not sure of the term) or out-and-out atheists. Not many are drawn to mainline religion: attending church on Sunday, church suppers, that sort of thing.
D'oh! Am I slow or what? I posted in the goodbye thread LT started, didn't realize it was what it appears to be.... I actually said people are shouting for attention.... the attention they are shouting for lately is "hey! check me out on the other forum to find out why I'm pissed".
I have a very very limited understanding of the politics that go on here and other boards because I cannot be bothered to get that involved, but I can only say this one thing...
So what exactly is going on here? Lisa is not the only long time JWD poster who is leaving because they do not like the tactic of a certain moderator. Although, I have not posted enough to have the averages of the long time posters (thus, upping my chances of getting a thread/post deleted or modified) it does not seem to me that there is a lot of "control" going on here. Anybody know what these dissidents are referring to?
It looks to me like there is a breakdown of communication and an "understanding" that one never discusses why another is banned or punished in some other way. These taboos are ridiculous, given that if anyone wants to, they can easily find out elsewhere, where it's difficult to know what really happened because you are only getting one side of the story.
Maybe there's a better way to handle things than that, which don't involve shutting down communication? Stilted communication is a strong indicator of dysfunction in an organization.

That having been said, I have heard some pretty nasty things about how some folks are conducting themselves. What would make someone even think of threatening to post peoples' kids pictures on pedo sites? What kind of a cesspit of a mind even thinks of things like that???
I guess it just goes to show that there are some pretty nasty pieces of work out there, regardless of whether or not they have left a cult

Wow, that really happened? You know way more than me. I know there are true freaks out there in exJW land and everything, but I'm sure they can't all be painted with that brush. I stand by what I said earlier... that I don't see the point of a mostly fluff board, and that's pretty much all they are - fluff, fighting and porn, oh and a couple JW topics someone started 3 months ago, which never got a whole lot of attention. I really don't know how that will go, I certainly hope everyone who left here and posts other places hooks up with their friends and has a great time, but I'm just too boring for those boards. I actually come here for the JW topics and the fluff is secondary.
IAGN:I want to quickly point out that I think it fairly obvious that I'm talking about a case of individual freaks rather than speaking generally of everyone who left this board. A number of folks, who I class as good friends, have left here and now either post elsewhere or not at all.
I'm happy to resort to the occasional fluff thread, as friendships are more than just so-called "intelligent" conversation. The banter is pretty good around here
