I wanted to personally thank Simon for all his hard work in keeping this board running, for the better part of six years. It's not easy keeping track of thousands of members, dealing with their complaints etc, but he's done it.
I know a few Old Timer's have left, but many more have joined, some of them who held or are holding prestigious positions in the Society.
We need this board for the sake of us, newbies and the lurkers.
Does it matter if new JW boards appear? To quote a favorite WT phrase, "Not at all!" The more JW boards out there, the merrier! The message about the WT is spread further. To paraphrase the movie "About A Boy", guests come and go but the star of the show remains. The majority of OT's have stayed. Those who have left might come back. This board is the biggest and best of all JW boards out there. It may not be the longest running, but it's most likely a hit for the lurkers and anyone else who wants to learn about the Watchtower culture.
Some have had their feathers ruffled because Simon has not allowed cursing on the board - I agree, it's not necessary to say curse words all the time. You wouldn't make a habit of using them at work, why use them here.
I think that the old adage has happened, "familiarity breeds contempt."
Although this is a public forum, people here have got as close as they could to each other as if they were sitting in their living room. JWD has become an extension of many of our lives, I'm addicted to this site, but have to remember that the people here are real and we have to have respect for the rules and regulations that come with posting here.
Simon has not kept changing the rules every few weeks, they have stayed the same for the most part. We're all going to step on each other's toes from time to time, that's the way life is.
Anyway, a big thank you to Simon for your hard work - without this board I wouldn't be mentally free.
