Follow your heart, it is a beautiful thing, even if others don't see what you see right away. I had doctors and even my ex husband telling me I had to have a hysterectomy to save my life while I was pregnant with my 3rd child, who was attached to a tumor in my womb.

    He is 18.

Sorry about what you went through with your thyroid. My mother has hashimotos and had hers totally removed, I went through 5 doctors before one would bother to test mine when it quit working. I have auto immune thyroid too. I had to learn to be very pushy with doctors.

My mama always said, "the squeeky wheel gets the oil"

Squeek as loud as you have to. Don't be afraid, be as pushy as need be to get the answers and results you know you want. I had botched surgeries and misdiagnoses many many times.

    Hang in there~Kate

Good news! (I'm almost scared to say it in case something happens!) Mom made it through the surgery! The doctor did not have to "crack open her chest"! She was alert, but disoriented coming out of surgery, which is to be expected. She had some seizure activity after the surgery, but that was because they withheld her anti-seizure medication before the surgery (I hope.). The pediatric ET tube is out and an adult sized one is in! Whoo hoo! She's getting in tidal volumes of up to 1000 ml (breathing in), as opposed to only 400 ml or less.

Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes!

I'm going to try to stay positive and not be scared! Edited to add: The doctor said that the mass was approximately the size of a "tennis ball". I'm going by the way he held his hands.

MrsMcD; sorry just saw this! Wonderful news to hear your mom has done remarkably well with her surgery and is now recovering. Now you`re next, right?! Both of you are still in my thoughts and prayers today.
