My relatives that are still Witnesses, always hate it when I say one thing to them, more then any others ...
"Are you going to church tonight?"
"Were you at church?"
"How was church?"
Why is that? Did you ever wonder why we were so emotional about making sure people did not call our illustrious meetings or Kingdom Halls, churches? Isn't a church defined as
Church : A building for public, especially Christian worship
No wonder people always thought we were not even Christians, we wouldn't even call the place we worshiped in, something as simple as a church. We were so afraid of the word too, to a level of complete nonsense. My relatives get defensive every time I say it, with comments like "... not church, the meeting" or "... were not Christendom, we go to meetings." What is the big deal? Meetings are something I do at work, when we have to discuss work goals, new policies and any changes. Church is what you go to and do, when you are worshiping a God. It is not like it is an insult, it is in the dictionary and the definition says nothing like "Where people go to worship and believe in the Trinity." So if you want to really irritate a Witness, ask them how church was. They love that!
