    "I heard from ones that had gone to the convention that our time before tribulation is miniscule. I am scared. I know it must be true." (Rumor 2006)

    The above is from an e-mail I received from a friend who isn't well enough to attend the DC. She says it all there doesn't she?

    I sent this reply:

    1925 "The year 1925 is a date definitely and clearly marked in Scriptures, even more clearly than that of 1914" {WT 1924 211}

    1925 "We have no doubt whatever in regard to the chronology relating to the dates of .. 1925.. What further evidence do we need? Using this same measuring line .. it is an easy matter to locate 1925, probably in the fall, for the beginning of the antitypical jubilee. There can be no more question about 1925 than there was about 1914." {WT May 15 1922 150}

    1975 "Interestingly, the autumn of the year 1975 marks the end of 6,000 years of human experience. This is ascertainable from reliable chronology preserved in the Bible itself. What will that year mean for humankind? Will it be the time when God executes the wicked and starts off the thousand-year reign of his Son Jesus Christ? It very well could, but we will have to wait to see.. A glorious new order is immediately before us." {WT May 1 1967 262}

    "If the wicked system of this world survived until the turn of the century [the year 2001 ?], which is highly improbable in view of world trends and the fulfillment of Bible prophecy, there would still be survivors of the World War I generation. However, the fact that their number is dwindling is one more indication that 'the conclusion of the system of things' is moving fast toward its end." {WT Oct 15 1980 31}

    1989 "Before the 1914 generation completely dies out, God's judgment must be executed." {WT May 1 1985 4}

    1999 "The apostle Paul was spearheading the Christian missionary activity. He was also laying a foundation for a work that would be completed in our 20th century." {WT Jan 1 1989 12} [bound volume changed "20th century" to "day"]

    1998 "That 'slave' made up of anointed Christians, provides the very best of spiritually good things - accurate, Bible-based knowledge that can lead to eternal life" (WT Sep 1 1998 11}

    It's interesting that there is not one apostate word in any of these quotes? They are right from the literature of the Faithful and Discrete Slave itself. No manipulation, just light straight from God.

    I'm not scared at all. I think that's the point. NO one is going to meetings or service anymore and its time to scare up some faithfulness.

    I love the way the FDS whips the R&F into shape with a little apoclayptic hocus pocus.

    Surprisingly I’m not. Just got back from the District Convention myself and it only further solidified in my mind that their teachings are a bunch of BS. As you pointed out they have been saying “the end is near” for decades. They’re resorting to the same old scare tactics they are so well known for. Everything in the convention was a scare tactic.

    “If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him” (Deut. 18:22).

    My latest tactic is to ask, "On the outside, how long do you think the current system will last? A few hours, weeks, months, years? Ten years tops? I can see you think there is NO WAY the world will last another ten years. I tell you what. Let's put together a little time capsule for ten years from now. We'll put in some mementos, and I'll throw in a scripture or two. If we make the ten year mark, you will put aside your fruitless pursuit. What do you say?"

    He says he won't, of course, because he will be faithful HOWEVER long it takes. But it deflates his fear and makes him think about what he will be DOING ten years from now. You know. Just in case. It's not here yet.

    That was an excellent reply W.Once, and I hope it has some effect. And no. I'm not scared.

    The JW mindset on the upcoming Armageddon is screwed up to say the least. On one hand, they expect the Big A any day, month now...because the WTS keeps it so close in their minds. But then, they turn around and talk about the house their gonna buy or their retirement plans.

    I was eating lunch with my JW in-laws a while back and during the course of the meal conversation they talked about what they were going to do during retirement. They were contemplating selling the house and getting a condo and try to keep monthly expenses down so that they could make their retirement funds last longer. They were making good economic decisions. Then a few minutes later, the subject meandered down another path and talk of "this system of things" came up. My FIL, who just minutes earlier was talking about trying to make his retirement fund last for as long as possible, made this statement after someone commented about the "condition of the world": "There's no way this world can continue for another ten years. It has to come soon."

    I almost put a hole in my tongue as I bit it to keep from saying, "well, if it's coming that soon, why are you worried about your retirment funds? You've got more than enough to last 8 to 10 years." I knew that it would just start an argument so I kept my mouth shut. But how can someone not see the contradiction in actions versus words?

    I think they kinda look at it like having a fire drill at school . No fire just a drill and everybody acts like there is a fire and leaves the building but then goes back in after it is announced it was just a drill .LOL The only difference is the WTBTS said there was a fire , this is not a drill ......

    almost put a hole in my tongue as I bit it to keep from saying, "well, if it's coming that soon, why are you worried about your retirment funds? ; You've got more than enough to last 8 to 10 years." ; I knew that it would just start an argument so I kept my mouth shut. ; But how can someone not see the contradiction in actions versus words?

    Good point there . They know damn well the WTBTS won't provide for them either . They are told they can refer to them as being jehovah even but in the end they can only depend on themselves for medical and daily living expenses ... I believe you can't take it with you .......................
